"We had the misfortune to go to this cafe today. We ordered the panini which when came was obviously going hard before they warmed it up as even after being warned up it was still hard around the edges. No taste to the cheese on it either. We had to ask for a clean glass after being given a dirty one and on pouring the tea and milk into the cup found there were floaters all over it. We were not sure if it was the milk that was off or the fact that the teapot on the inside was absolutely filthy. It looked like they had tried to clean the inside but gave up. Needless to say I didn't drink it. I agree with a previous poster about the two older ladies and how abrupt they were when serving."

Had a baked potato with tuna mayonnaise and salad which was very nice. My friend had homemade soup which she said was delicious.

This place has been here for years. I used to visit as a child, so I took my kids today. Had tea cakes, drinks and an Eccles cake. Nice friendly service, good food and clean. Would recommend

Went for breakfast with my little brother, everything was delicious and all health and safety procedures in place. The owner couldn't do enough to make sure we felt safe and looked after but the star of the show, as always, was the food! Can't wait to come back! Xx Voir le carte

Food the quality of the assorted sandwiches very poor and slightly stale my friend had a cake from there small choice? Eccles cake and found this to be very socky in texture and dry in taste. Very disappointing and want be back here as I feel some of the prices are steep.

Staff were very rude and the vinegar we were given just came out like brown water.. there was not a trace of vinegar in it and when we asked for another bottle just got told they would take it up with the manager didn't get us another bottle or even offer to replace the now soggy watery chips. never again.

Great service, a huge (amazing’ selection of food and drinks with fresh sandwiches made to order. Hot and cold meals included a variety of Chinese meals although most dishes were typical English fare. Comfortable seating in a pleasant environment. Well worth a visit. Clean toilets properly signed ‘MEN’ ‘LADIES’ Voir le carte

I have been to pippins numerous times and every time I have been 100% happy with the food and service. The portion sizes are large and very tasty. I honestly don’t know if some customers are going to the same place? Either that or their expectations are unusually high, because the guys that work here are polite and friendly.

Asked for soya milk which is normal everywhere. I’m not vegan but if you are be prepared to drink black coffee or fruit tea . I felt like a Martian just landed from outer space . Staff not in slightest bit friendly. If I hadn’t ordered food would have left . In fact wish I had . Baked beans jacket potato . What could not be pleasant about that ? Bean juice running all over lettuce making it soggy . No plant based alternative at all for drinks . Not good experience.

"Friday night is busy for most, I 'm sure. Appalled by the service in all honesty. Staff seem smug and unattentive. It 's too much trouble to tend your (paying) needs. To be fair.. I am mostly speaking of one particular staff member, but it appears he is the manager/lead server. I can 't differentiate as there were no introductions.. I 'm not bothered about that; necessarily, I 'm trying to stay mutual, but last night, I was so disappointed. Staff leaning over you to take plates without communication of their intentions. I 'm wondering what this place is trying to be, fine dining, or just a typical restaurant.. their attitudes claim they are of the finer sort (including the prices) Poppadoms are made to seem complimentary as you wait. But don 't worry, they will charge you.. there 's a real lack of transparency and connection between customers/staff.. I did enjoy the food somewhat, but It wasn 't brilliant.. I 've had better at the local indian takeaway, in all honesty. The receipt was confusing too (party of 10) It was very difficult to figure out the full costs per person as it was all mixed up. Whilst trying to calculate the costs per individual said staff member was hovering around and made it seem such an inconvenience, and we felt rushed. I believe I am very fair and I always give people multiple chances, but his service was unacceptable... everything was a problem for him. Perhaps it 's a difference of cultures, however, having travelled the world to a a varying degree I have never felt this way, most places have made me feel welcome and this one of the reviews I have left feeling so strongly about it. Every person of the party has shared the same view, so I am not only speaking for myself. He delegated as to how much rice or sides we should have 'as he had accounted for it all ' Which leads me to believe they are aiming for a more prestigious type establishment.. There are very few places that offer THAT type experience in Southport.. and this is not the place. I don 't want to appear angry as I enjoy experiencing all types of food/environments etc etc. But this wasn 't the experience I was led to expect. I haven 't contacted the restaurant yet, but I don 't even know if anything I say (in regards to this visit) will have any effect on their future projections. I hope it was just a busy day, and they were a bit troubled with what was going on.. if that is the case, I will 100% give them another chance and hope that they can treat whomever may enter their restaurant in a manner of which is exciting and enjoyable. After further inspection of the final bill, there were extra items added on said waiter had 'accounted ' for what we required, yet we had far too much rice and other various sides. For example.. if you order 4 beers, it should state 4x beers, But they seem to work it: 1x beer, 1 x rice , 1 x beer, 1x rice, 1x beer, etc etc (for example) Even though we ordered drinks initially, which should all be counted in chronological order. I still have the receipt but didn 't want to post a picture as I 'm sure I have said enough to give a little embarrassment. We were very disappointed and haven 't stopped talking about it since. Don 't have such high expectations and you won 't be disappointed.
