"We have been to the Old Vicarage many times over the years the people who own it have been there a long time now although the staff seem to change regularly. For a 3 course Sunday lunch in a lovely place like this the price is good the beef was of excellent quality and very tender, plenty of veg to go with the meals too although I did find everything a tad on the cool side I like piping hot food if it is being bought a distance from the kitchen! However, it has to be said that they are very good at adapting the food to help our gluten free friend who does struggle at some places the chef here is always able to adapt the food to suit. The Orangery is lovely and bright and warm on a winters day but lacking in ambience and atmosphere when there are only a few diners needs some background music! That said, it will not put us off going again, it is a lovely place with lovely people Sarah the owner and her husband are very nice and always have time for you however busy they are."

I had a lovely meal here, a very nice starter, delicious main course and a wonderful dessert. The service was excellent.

Why is it as a wedding party you think you would get cheaper rates charged £115 but to book the same room £60 Plus breakfast still only £85 so being ripped of in my opinion you would think larger the party cheaper the rates

My family treated my husband and I to a two night stay at The Old Vicarage in Worfield. It was my 70th birthday which was conveyed to the Hotel but I was disappointed that even though we were the only visitors there it was not mentioned. The food was good we ate dinner on the first night in the dining room and because we were the only people there we were put in a smaller room for breakfast which was delicious.

Recently visited to celebrate my friends' 60th Birthday... afternoon tea with her and her Mom.... there was only us and another couple in the orangery for the tea but it was absolutely lovely! Beautiful selection of sandwiches with tea and then gorgeous cakes and pastries and scones and cream! Lovely selection and good value, we really enjoyed it... the only think I would say is that they could have done with a little background music but other than that, perfect! Voir le carte

We recently got married at The Old Vicarage and can't thank you enough for such a perfect day. Such a beautiful venue, Sarah and her staff were brilliant throughout (we especially loved Carlo as our master of ceremonies), and food was fantastic. Many of our guests also commented how lovely the venue was and how good the food was. We very much hope you will still be serving Sunday dinner next year as we are already planning to come back for our anniversary! Thank you again, Rachel and Aid

We stayed overnight for a midweek wedding. The location is beautiful in the middle of the countryside. The meal was the best I have had at any wedding I have been to, which includes weddings where tens of thousands were spent! All the staff were brilliant all really friendly and professional at the same time. Bar staff could do with a bit more training to help things run smoother but this wasn’t a major issue. Drinks a little more expensive but are in keeping with the area. Room was lovely spotlessly clean. Again just needed a few minor touch ups to keep the standard. All in all a great day and night. Thank you!

Our son and new daughter-in-law recently had their wedding ceremony and reception at the Old Vicarage on July 27th, 2018. We were thoroughly impressed with everything from the venue, service, food, atmosphere, and staff - everything was perfect. The venue itself is ideal for a small and intimate wedding, and Sarah and her team paid close attention to detail and helped make our special day truly memorable. Even the registrar from Shropshire Council was fantastic, putting everyone at ease and setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable day. We extend our thanks to everyone at the Old Vicarage and highly recommend it to others. Voir le carte

Visited for dinner with family and was not impressed. The theory behind the limited choice set menu and the “fine” dining was clear but in practice it became cloudy. The two starters of salmon and quail were tasty but small portions with the sauces taking away the individual taste. Our main courses were beef, duck and fish and whilst the portions remained small, the duck and fish were good. However the beef was fatty and chewy and over half was left on the plate. The side dishes were necessary even though they incurred extra cost as without them there would have been insufficient food. The sweets were basic and the cheese selection tasty.

We have been dining at The Wheel for the past three to four years and have always received a warm welcome and enjoyed excellent pub food. However, in the past six months or so, the quality of the food has declined. It is also noticeable that the restaurant is not as busy as it used to be, as there are now plenty of empty spaces in the car park. During our last visit, I ordered the beef in red wine, which was unpleasant and tasted as if it had been cooked for days. It was a thick, unappealing mass on the plate. My companion's fish and chips were decent, but nothing special. Unfortunately, a nearby restaurant did a better job with their fish and chips, despite the rude service. We have decided...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
