"I found myself in Barnsley so checked Google to find the best breakfast in town , The old George Coffee House seemed to be popular so i gave it a try, £15.40 it cost me with a cappuccino. i didn’t look at the menu and ordered a full breakfast which they call “ The George “ . . MY VERDICT so it was a rather “posh” slightly pretentious looking breakfast, ingredients were all high end and presentation was good the beans were the thing thats stood out for me, almost a BBQ smokey flavours, the coffee was really good also much better that the chains coffee shops….! . . Being picky it could have been much hotter, the sausage was meaty a little dry and rather anaemic, the bacon was beyond crispy and no butter came with the warm bread that was ever so slightly toasted. . . I am sure there are better breakfast to be had in Barnsley"

We came for lunch and couldn't fault anything. Staff were friendly and efficient, food was absolutely delicious. The cakes looked amazing but unfortunately we were too full to try one! Voir le carte

I can confidently say that this is the best breakfast I have ever had! It surpasses any breakfast I have had at a hotel cafe before. The coffee house is lovely, with a great menu, decor, and very friendly staff. I will definitely be returning to the Old George next time I am in Barnsley.

We were passing though Barnsley on a long journey and decided to give The George a try for some breakfast. Couldn’t recommend enough the breakfast was amazing best fry up we’ve ever had. Staff were also lovely and friendly. If we are passing through again we will definitely be visiting again.

They changed the menu today so went in for lunch. The new menu has some great choices on but I went for three side dishes for £12. Absolutely delicious and well balanced flavours. I had kale and onion bhaji bites, falafel and loaded fries. Great portions, and freshy cooked...really good, Staff were brilliant as ever and another great meal. Voir le carte

Forgot to leave a tip due to our feral tired kids. Figured I’d leave a review instead : . We’ve been to the one in the town hall a few times (also good but only recently heard about this location (when somebody in front of us was wanted pancakes, so got sent over the road!! Brilliant welcoming space and lovely food/coffee. Even humoured our 5 year olds. Definitely the best cafe in Barnsley. Thanks guys! We’ll be back.

Old George held a curry night last night and wanted to write a review. We were welcomed with a smile and a lovely bright display of colour. We sat down and poppadoms and pickle tray while we decided on the starter and main. I had the kale and onion bhaji and my partner has tika masala fish...just perfect and tasty. Our mains were beef Madras served with a nann and my partner had a paneer flat bread with fries. Again both mains were amazing and you could not have got better in an Indian restaurant. All in all a fantastic and enjoyable night.
