"while the caffe is still closed because of the covid pandemie, the hofladen makes a roaring trade and also quite right! the pass is no longer; beautiful fresh fruit and vegetables, delicious brote and cake, fresh local cheese and butter, beautiful...fresh eggs, house made preserves from various delicacies. the garden cakes sold in the shop are by far the best I have ever eaten! I even liked a few bonnets, especially today! lizzie, bob, james and judith make the most beautiful task to offer us their load (and caffe when it is opened again) in our village. something I am very proud of! many thanks!"

Excellent impromptu lunch as a date night in the afternoon! Food was fresh and the service was excellent. Really nice sitting outside too and enjoying some sun. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back Voir le carte

because of our self-insulation by vulnerable age group, judith had brought my articles to the door and my card for payment near the car. all precautionary measures were well organised for the safety of employees and customers. another excellent service in.

we invited to lunch after a walk. the staff was great and happy to make a sandwich that was not on board and gave us great advice on their selection of apple juices. the food proportions are very generous and the acidic teigbrot is amazing. this was our first visit, but not our last.

I visited here with my mum recently. It was such a lovely place, and the two ladies in the tea room were so friendly and helpful. They did everything they could to help with my mum who has dementia. We only stopped for a drink,...but the drinks were lovely, and we had a very memorable time. Voir le carte

Having nearly completed the Weald Way this is the first cafe we have come across next to the footpath. On a very hot day we stopped for a pot of tea. It was good to be asked if we would like a jug of water....The tea and coffee were reasonably priced. Unfortunately we didn't eat, the food looked good. If we are in the area in the future we will return

Lovely visit today to the cafe with hubby and baby daughter followed by some fruit picking on the farm. The ham, spinach and egg on sour dough toast (the bread is from the famous, local bakery, Flint Owl) was absolutely delicious, while hubby voucher similarly...for the bacon sandwich. Very friendly service from all we met there and the lovely chef even brought out some wooden toys for our daughter to play with. Next to the cafe is a lovely farm shop with interesting Sussex produce some of which we bought. Will definitely be back to do it all again!

"The last time I visited this restaurant was 6 years ago, it WAS a real hidden gem. When I walked in this evening nothing had changed and I was hoping the food would be just as good as I remembered. Service was slow which surprised us as it was a Sunday night and pretty empty. We were given some olives while we ordered (the nicest part of the meal unfortunately). My boyfriend ordered the garlic focaccia with caramelised onion; the bits that had cheese and onion on were very tasty but this was only about 30% of the focaccia, the rest of the bread was over cooked and bland. I ordered bruschetta which was completely underwhelming. 4 small pre sliced bits of stale bread, some chopped up soft tomato and pesto with rocket in the centre. I could have made this at home. For mains I ordered what I always used to have, linguine alla marinara. The portion of pasta was decent, however I only counted 6 pieces of seafood and one large prawn on the top. The menu states it also comes with tomato’s which there were none of. The flavour tasted like buttery pasta with a hint of garlic, again completely underwhelming. My boyfriend ordered spaghetti meatballs. A large portion but completely inedible as it was absolutely disgusting. The sauce tasted like pure tomato purée, so lumpy and stodgy and the meatballs were like nothing we had ever tasted, VILE. We decided to bring the rest of the portion home for my mum (a head chef) to try. We wanted to know what she thought the flavour was as we were confused as to how you can make a meatball taste so vulgar! She spat it out immediately saying it tasted like it had either been cooked in or made with rancid/old fat. The cherry on the top for us was when we asked for the bill. We were given the generic boiled sweets that come with it. 2 of the boiled sweets were in wrappers however there was a third that stuck them all together that was half chewed, out of it’s wrapper. The place was COVERED in cobwebs, decor completely outdated with many flashing lights, menu pages stuck together and stank, looked like they had many a drink spilt over them and not once changed. Don’t even get me started on the toilets! We cleaned our own cutlery it was so filthy and swapped side plates with an empty table next to us as ours had food still on them. Left feeling completely disappointed and are both now suffering with major trumps. Will not be returning again!"
