"Menu was very limited and over priced. There was nothing on the menu that I could order and so a family member asked for a child menu in the absence of anything suitable for a diabetic however the waiter stated that the children’s menu “is for children!”. Informed him that there was nothing suitable to which he replied “it is a gastro pub!” His attitude was rude and pompous, I really wanted to inform him that I had not booked and nor would I however as I was there with family who had booked following a trip to Grasmere to scatter my father in law’s ashes I felt unable to point this out and then leave! I was finally offered a meal from the lunch menu which proved to be acceptable but will not return especially given the attitude of the waiter. 1 star given as no stars was not an option!"

"we stopped here for a quick pint while we continue our trip to our parent house in ulverston for many years, and it is clear that this pub is infertile and has left the atmosphere the place. I understand that there was a change of the hands...sometimes it takes one to find the new administration away. what I think was the manager who greeted us with a cloud of smoke at the door (not very professional, especially this day and age), offered some, but not all natives a 20% discount. again not very professional to discuss this before people who pay full whack. arrogant. the manager was more concerned about their local people than all others. it felt uncomfortable to watch people waiting for drinks. the menu is nothing special and not much choice for snacks. I remember the days when it was full of native, walker and the atmosphere was great. what happened? Whoever took it must act now before they frighten more people."

"Rarely do I get the time or the motivation to review a stay at an establishment. However, The Hare and Hounds at Bowland Bridge stands head and shoulders above the norm and truly deserves a review. Over the years I have travelled extensively both in the British Isles and Overseas and it is very rare that I find an establishment that one simply cannot find fault. Last week, was my second stay at the Hare and Hounds, Bowland Bridge and it is the perfect overnight stay for when I have been driving South after working in Northern Scotland. The location and everything that this establishment offers presents an ideal and very cathartic stop for me after working away for long periods of time. The problem with the Hare and Hounds Inn is that everything is so professionally created with support from a warm and helpful team, both front and back of house, that it then tempts one to try desperately hard to try and find fault in something. I have a very detailed and critical eye, but I can honestly say that I cannot find fault in any aspect of this wonderful Inn. Thank you Andrew it was a pleasure meeting you and please pass on to your whole team my sincere thanks and appreciation. "Decided to try this pub after reading good reviews couldn't fault the food really good, steak was excellent came with all the trimmings also best dianne sauce I have ever had and I have had a few lovely thin fries, hubby had cheese and onion pie chips and lovley vegetables only criticism too many onions in the pie but overall very good would definitely recommend this place."
