"There are not few who claim that there are more good Greek locals in Landau on “Greek Avenue” Martin Luther Straße than is the case in the entire rest of the South Palatinate. Actually, there are two restaurants that actually stand out in terms of product quality and ambience. The “Olympia” already described by me on GG and the “Poseidone” that can be achieved directly opposite one another by means of passage. Both are appreciated Landauer traditional locals, who have been attracting their guests for many years and can point to a remarkable regular clientele through their consistently good kitchen performance. While the “Olympia” in the foods, in my opinion, has a close nose, the “Poseidon” can score with its cozy vault cellar. Just after a sporting activity on the weekend, we are happy to be in the “Poseidon”. At the entrance on the way to the Souterrain vault you are kindly welcomed. On warm days or In the evenings you sit idyllicly in the courtyard at defensive meat dishes from the grill and enjoy the day-to-day sound with a well-cooled white wine of Greek provenance. Since it was rather uncertain lately from the weather, we preferred to take a seat in the most Greek cellar of Landaus. The ouzos for greeting can never be waiting for you for a long time and make it easier to get into the “Grill Meat Shop”. It is worth noting that for a few months you have reached a seasonally changing recommendation card. It complements the usual offer with delicious dishes “except the series” and thus ensures a variety. Too bad that such monthly “specials” are offered in hardly one Greek local in the area known to me the “socrates” in a somewhat further distant Karlsruhe. So I left the usual meat suspects first and ordered from the "Extrablatt" the pifferling cream soup 3.50 euros in front and the cannelloni 10.90 euros filled with minced meat, beechamel sauce and feta and manouri cheese. The wine recommendation, a harmlessly savory Moschofilero from Mantinia Peloponnese for 5.90 euros the neighborhood, I also came after. My colleague with the tomato cream went down to €3.30 in terms of suppening technology, but decided to order the Gyros with Zaziki and tomato rice €10.50. If our hunger had been bigger this evening, we would certainly have commissioned – as so often – the “Rhodos Plate” for 2 persons with 4 lamb chops, 2 Suzuki chop steaks, 2 Suflaki spits, a lot of gros, tomato rice, French fries, Alibi TK vegetables and Zaziki for 32 euros. At the soup, my colleague had the better smell. Its tomato cream was well tasted and had a pleasant spice. My cup “Pfifferling Püre” was definitely missing the taste. In a cream soup you should consider using cream. There was no foundation of vegetable broth or fond, which fills such soups with life. The baked cannelloni, on the other hand, were really delicious. A kind of mussaka with noodles. If I remember correctly, I had eaten a similar dish at my first trip to Greece in 1993. That was called "Pastizio" and was a kind of macaroni run. This really tasted fine. The Manouri cheese gave a fine aroma to the runaway. Okay, the portion size was quite manageable, so I couldn't reorder a small gyro portion without meat. Definitely no mistake. Because the Gyros in the Poseidon alone is worth a visit. My colleague saw that as well. What I like about the cellar vault is the well thought-out division and separation of the rather large guest room. Wooden balustrades, solid sandstone columns without plaster, glazed partitions and seating areas slightly higher off the ground belong to the spatial design elements, which have a cosy-supporting effect and do not create a railway atmosphere even with a great deal of effort. The seats and tables are kept in dark wood. At the latter, the marble veneer plate shines in fine optics. Various statues, vases and pictures in the Greco style complete the harmonious overall picture. A few more words to choose food. Like many Greek restaurants, this is very extensive. Around 25 different cold and warm appetizers are listed. From grilled Peperoni 4,10 Euro to piquant Keftedakia minced meats, 5,90 Euro in sharp tomato sauce, everything is represented here, which is expected from a good local Greek embossment. In addition to some salads, three different vegetable runs are also offered. Here you will stay fair below 10 euros. Many fish dishes, which can also be combined on 2 person plates, are available in the program. And then of course the enormous selection of lamb, beef, pig co. Anyone who finds nothing is probably suffering from a strongly pronounced form of veganism. A tip for lamb fans: the lean chops from the lamb crown with pommes, green beans and Zaziki 17.90 Euro . That's where the grill friend comes at his expense. I can also recommend the Mykonos Plate Spieß, Steak, Hacksteak with Pommes and calorie-rich Hollandaise, for 11,50 euros, which I eradicated last Saturday there. The price performance ratio fits here in any case. Whether you’re driving the “Olympia” or the “Poseidone” doesn’t matter. Both restaurants are no longer to think away from Landau. And the typical Greek hospitality prevails equally in both localities. It's nice that there are old family farms like that."
