"I recently found this gem of a restaurant in the heart of Pavia. Decided that I wanted to take my best friend out and treat her for her birthday. We were seated inside and it was lovely, I admired all the details of the room, from the decor to the wine glasses. We were given menu’s in Italian as we both spoke a bit, (but they were very helpful in speaking English as well) we first ordered some very nice Prosecco (the wine menu is a huge, with many choices, excellent prices for this upscale restaurant). The gnocchi was delicious, as was the beef (cooked to perfection) with roasted potatoes, the crowning glory was the dolce or dessert. It was beautiful and crafted as art, and tasting even better than we hoped. I will be back again to Locanda del Carmine with more friends! Loved everything about this treasure of a restaurant."

On a rainy afternoon I wandered into this elegant little restaurant on the Piazza in front of S. Maria del Carmine. Excellent Menu del Giorno with a delicious Risotto that the region is known for as well as good meat dishes for the second. A glass of local wine quite reasonably priced, so a lunch of 2 courses with glass of wine is approx €20

On a gloomy rainy day we were looking for a cosy place that served typical local food. We were lucky enough to find this hidden gem on Piazza del Carmine. The owner and manager is an extraordinary woman, super friendly and an absolute pleasure to chat to. We ordered agnolotti al brasato and we were absolutely delighted! The wine was also excellent and so was the atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed out lunch , we will definitely be back. Well done!
