"Visited based on other TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The parking lot was full and it was unclear if street parking was permissible but we parked in a marked spot outside of a closed bank just down the street. Once inside we were greeted warmly and immediately seated inside a barrel. Quirky for sure but really good fun. The menu is large and includes traditional German food. Portions are very large. My sons had regular adult meals as they are good eaters and usually still hungry after a kids portion. Turkey and spaetzle was a massive platter covered in a tasty mushroom gravy. Battered fish was also quite a big portion and the waitstaff easily accommodated our request to substitute vegetables (which looked like a standard pack of steamed from frozen cauliflower and carrots) for the prescribed side dish of potato salad. For the adults -we shared a wine flight which consisted of 7 generous samples of house made wine - very reasonable at about 7 euro. My husband had a hot stone steak that he very much enjoyed. I had salmon tagliatelle. The salmon was just okay but again a massive portion. The tagliatelle was the highlight of the plate and still just okay. The novelty of sitting in the barrel does not get old. The service was prompt and friendly. Four stars because the food was good but not terribly special. Prices were a bit high but not outrageous for a family night out."

This was a real surprise as we were in Budpest and Bratislava, but this food was by far the most tasty and the service by far the best we had in recent weeks.

Funny restaurant where you eat in big wine barrels. Good food and quiet location. Parking in front of the room and breakfast if you want it. Many local visitors in the restaurant (must be good, right?

Our local friend took us to an excellent four course beer dinner here. Pork medallions with onions and spaezel were amazing. Sitting inside giant barrel is optional. Waite staff in German costumes completed the ambiance. Below castle.

This restaurant is lovely. You sit in these over size barrels all very romantic and unique. You could even shut the door and shut the rest of the restaurant out. Ring the bell when ready. The food is lovely, plenty to choose from. Me and my husband had hot stone meal, the meat was cooking still as it came to the table. Kids had schnitzel and pommes. They loved it! Voir le carte

My husband and I visited Kuferschanke because the idea of eating dinner in a big wine barrel appealed to us. Don't get me wrong, it was very cool and something I'll probably never get to experience again, but the opportunity to sit and eat in a wine barrel is not the only thing this restaurant has going for it. The food is simple, but very tasty, well priced and the portions are huge! Plus the service is great!

My "Poor" rating of this unique, beautiful and original winery restaurant doesn't do justice to the fact that the ambiance (sitting and dining in old wine barrels) is fantastic and very well worth the visit. However, a restaurant visit is an overall experience, including service and food quality of course. And here the "Kueferschenke" fails to deliver, which is a true disappointment since I always tend to give family-run operations, especially wineries in small, quaint towns the benefit of the doubt.
