Kühler Krug - Menu

When visiting Freiburg I went to see the surrounding and ended up in sued. I decided to have a meal there and the quality of the meal made me go back the next day. Really affordable and excellent food.

We had a lovely time. Our meals were delicious, and the atmosphere was charming.The best part was our professional, yet jovial, and extremely helpful waiter.He was quite tolerant of our inability to speak German and made fabulous recommendations for food and wine. Prices were reasonable for the experience.

we came to cooler on the recommendation of the Michelin guide and were not disappointed. we had a green salad for starter and the porcini tagliatelle (18 eur) as main thing. especially the tagliatelle were delicious. also my dessert, a lemon with. strawberry parfait and fruit was very beautiful. they can eat on their terrace.

take the 15 minutes tram ride from the city and spend a relaxing evening in keuler krug. we had the 6 course set menu with especially good Squid/Puwn dishes, but overlooked kalbs main course. large selection from a la carte and extensive wine. card will be of the maitre d' (which speaks well English and patiently declares the menu) but service somewhat moderate. all in all, a pleasant experience in a relaxed environment.

Just happened upon this place on a short visit to the area - my goodness when coming from Basel where hard to find value and quality, have literally been bowled over by the standard of cooking for our very reasonably priced meal.If you love truffles (I adore them!) slathered over the best piece of beef eaten this side of London for some time - you will enjoy. Organic to boot. Us in certain parts of the world are very spoilt!!!Delicious fresh ingredients, elegantly combined and presented. Beautiful spot - be back soon.Great service too. Beware a very refined, later in life crowd.

Read about this restaurant in Fodor's travel guide and decided to try it. It is a short tram or taxi ride south of the city center. We went on a Thursday evening and this restaurant feels like you are dining with germans from the local area. Beautiful classic german interior, dark oak paneling, crisp white linens. The proprietor works and serves in the dining room and they take their food and their services very seriously. The staff was quite tolerant of our lack of German language and took the time to walk us through the menu item by item. Food was exceptional and beautifully presented.
