"sat after a long time for dinner without going to a restaurant. please report that we were not disappointed. we sat on a table for two immediately and were asked if we would like a drink. the server was very attentive as he was not the busiest night, although it was a Saturday. the menu itself is very extensive, with meals and a la carte. we chose a la carte. our appetizers were Wonton soup(9/10), butterfly king Prawns(9/10), salt peppersquid(10/10) and salt pepper ribs(7/10). this is due to a bit frozen aftertaste on the ribs. after this our main came, 2 portions of a fried rice(one is enough for two people), bark in oyster sauce(7/10), again unfortunately a bit frozen aftertaste on the bark, but the sauce was delicious and the bark very tender. also the xo squid prawns who were shameful(10/10) had everything in all a very good meal and hope that the management in my comments about the ribs and bark meat. my reviews are only taken off for eating, not as good as it could be. in any case be back."

Regularly use Kala Red for tske away deliveries. Tried both Uber and Deliveroo, and Deliveroo definitely better at keeping food hot. Singapore noodles and soft shell crab personal favourites.

I always pop in here on a Friday or Saturday night if we're out in town because it's open later, has a great choice of drinks, has good entertainment and the door staff are great at doing there job.

first visit to kala red went a bit early so not a lot of custom at that time, so service was v good and the meal excellent good value and quantity, compared to Noble House), after a while a lot more custom arrived but...the service standard was maintained, throughly good meal and enjoyable evening

I decided to nistnudeln a few birds that I knew this place did it earlier. disappointment make it no longer the service was ok. they had an amazing ceremony for the New Year of the Moon-Chinese, which I really enjoy. my food. was okay. some of the courts were a little airplane not tasted, could be better. I think they need to renovate some of the furniture there.

We entered here and went upstairs to the restaurant and were promptly seated and welcomed like old friends. Service was brilliant, food was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. Probably one of the best Chinese’s I’ve had in a long time. A couple of negatives...for me the draught drinks weren’t on as the pump faltered and the service charge was added automatically to the bill (which we didn’t receive we were just told a price at the till, but I saw them add it on).

Eating food influenced by the Far East was an exciting prospect when I was growing up. Much like a lot of foreign food that has been on our menus for generations it’s now part of British culture. After generations it has been tailored to meet...the needs of the populous. What you expect in British Chinese in food is what you’ll get at KalaRED. The venue is large and appears to turn into a pub/Club. I’m sure on a non school night you’ll get to smash a jägermeister with your mates while finishing off the last of the prawn crackers.

First time I tried this restaurant in Maidstone and was pretty disappointed. Went on Friday at 7pm and we were the only ones there which was already a sign of something bad. We ordered a few starters and a main. The sweet and sour chicken...seemed under cooked and tasted unlike anything I’ve tasted before. With 2 drinks each the price came to nearly £50 per person. This is completely unacceptable... mediocre food with ridiculous prices. It’s safe to say that I will never go to this place again and I would recommend others to spend their hard earned money else where.

restaurant inside looks beautiful and unique, this is the only good thing I can say. the tofu star was so dry that he tasted as if I chew on polystyrene!, and the package choi, well we were just the ends, none of the green leaves. as if they cut it off and save it for themselves (see picture) I went with my Asian partner, so she was very aware of why to expect, my gott please avoid to cost all. to mention the atmosphere! to describe would be like a meal in a middle of a club, no social distancing ever crowded. I felt robbed and hungry when I was before I sat down because it was so inconspicuous. if this didn't work as cash, I don't think the restaurant would survive alone. Never!

"I feel a bit bad about writing this, but for the first time ever there 's only 1 star and probably the longest comments I 've left. We arrived around 12:15 on a September Thursday after having a walk hungry, we fancied a pub lunch. Staff were pleasant if a bit rushed the young lady behind the bar was on her own and doing the best she could. Several things were off the menu, but we ordered a Curry of the day (Thai Green on this occasion) and sausage mash with gravy. Difficult things to screw up... After a reasonable wait, two small dishes appeared. The Thai Curry was tiny, containing a few small bits of grilled chicken in a fairly anaemic sauce, with a small amount of plain white rice on the side; the two sausages were quite small and on a small bed of mash surrounded by gravy. Both dishes were stone cold. We sent them back. Frankly, if we hadn 't paid in advance, I 'd have left at that point. A few minutes later they re appeared, along with a small dish of sweet chilli sauce and 3 small prawn crackers, two of which were not properly cooked (still solid in parts, i.e. not cooked hot or long enough). The sausages were now hot, the mash lukewarm and the gravy cloying and still pretty cold. Being fair, the very small sausages were quite tasty, but the mash was under/not seasoned and the gravy had little flavour, no onion or anything even vaguely interesting, and was still cold. The curry was a disgrace. The rice was flaccid and tasteless, the curry had almost no flavour and the chicken was watery, and pretty grim (tasteless too). Tiny portion as well. We left the curry. I did eat the sausage mash as I was really hungry, but in retrospect wished I hadn 't. I almost never leave food anywhere in the world, but I left that curry. I 'm not sure how dishes that bad could be let out of any kitchen. We complained to the waitress (who was doing her best) she asked us not to leave and a minute or two later refunded our main courses with an apology. I felt for her as she was doing her best as front of house when the kitchen was a shocker. Note that we didn 't ask for a refund or even hint, they just provided it. I 've never asked for a refund. It 's sad, as these days rural pubs need to do things right, but this wasn 't just small things; everything they could have done wrong with those two dishes they did wrong. Nothing cooked from fresh, nothing checked before leaving the kitchen, tasteless food, tiny portions, cold."
