always worth a visit. hausmannskost at high level. super suppern very well made and tasted. a lot. the best carving. but also alpe adria kitchen very good with carntner impact like panned calamari. service very attentive the chef very nice and carefree. beautiful playground and garden.

we found this typical Austrian place thanks to the reviews and we didn't think they could really lead to such a good dinner! manager of the very kind and hospitable local, pleasant music, menu in different languages, good variety of choice of food, honest price. really recommended, we will return!Ottime soups and meat!

This is a typical family run restaurant with good local food. We had a family dinner there and everyone was happy with the quaklity of the food and the price too. You want to make a reservation if you are more than 4 persons. The boss himself is looking after you and checks if everything is OK. In September, the garden of Restaurant Holder basks in the sun (on a sunny day of course) most of the afternoon. As hot food is available throughout the day, it is tempting to have a late lunch or an early dinner in Restaurant Holder's garten. As the food is well prepared Carinthian and Austrian cuisine (expect ample portions),the service of the host is impeccable and add a large jar of cold Villacher beer, when the sun is in the sky, a bee-line to Holder's garden is indicated.

We were a bit early for dinner; the kitchen staff had gone home for the well deserved break between lunch and dinner. Mr. Holder however made every effort to make us comfortable at a long table in the garden. The food was again excellent and worth waiting for. I want to emphasize the hospitality of Mr. Holder and his staff. We were not turned away with a sour reference to the official dinner time of the restaurant, but they made every effort to have our dinner on the table as quick as possible. Add glorious wheather and cold Villacher beer and a perfect visit was complete.

We know Restaurant Johann Gunther Holder for some years (see my reviews) and are confident to expect well prepared tasty Austrian food in a soothing atmosphere, served by a friendly host. That's why we will visit this restaurant more than once while on holiday in this area. However, when we settled down at Holder some days ago, it appeared that in April a special Steak menu had been added to the well known menu of the restaurant. I elected to order from the Steak menu and this steak dish with trimmings was so tasty, succulent and well prepared, that I can only award a 5 point rating. Well done and till the next visit. Restaurant Johann Gunther Holder is always there, except on Tuesdays, the weekly day off, to go for a meal when ever in doubt where to go. Johann Gunther Holder will never let you down. Tasty Austrian dishes, cold Villacher beer and dedicated service for a very affordable price. My Cordon Bleu (pork meat filled with ham and cheese) was delicious and stomach filling and I hear from my companion that the vegetarian dish she selected, was also delicious. Add the pleasant service with eye for detail; I am sure that you will not regret your visit to Johann Gunther Holder. Our return to the restaurant fulfilled our expectations.

Restaurant Holder is only a couple of kilometers from our holiday home. When it is a sunny afternoon the garden at Restaurant Holder, which is situated ideal to get this afternoon sun, is beckoning. There, under the chestnut tree, a perfect "Ertzbergschnitzel" with a cold Villcher beer can be enjoyed; or any other combination of food and drink offered on the menu. The kitchen serves hot food throughout the day from lunchtime till dinnertime, except on Tuesday and Wednesday, when the restaurant is closed. The restaurant is family run. Mr. Holder as host and Mrs. Holder as chef in the kitchen ensure a perfect meal experience.

Very good Austrian "Gasthof" . There is a separate dining room for non smokers, a nice garden for outdoor dining in summer, and some tables in a bar, where smoking is OK.. I had the "grillteller", two types of grilled meat, french fries (but you can change for cooked potatoes) and lots of vegetables. Simple, but delicious. The owner is very kind and attentive. Very relaxed atmosphere. A bonus is that the kitchen is open from 12 to 2100 hours. So no matter what time you like to eat, you are welcome. (Monday and Wednesday only from 1700 to 2100 hours).I can recommend this restaurant for a good honest meal, with quality ingredients. Voir le carte
