"Had a family gathering at this pub to celebrate my daughter’s recent birthday. We all ate and had drinks there. Service, politeness and helpfulness of staff was good. Being a party over a certain number we had to pre book our starters and main course which wasn’t a problem, but I found this establishments food and drinks way over priced, both food and drink. Large white wine £9.90, firstly ferret pint £5.90. You can view the price of the meals on their website. I just had a burger which came with chips. It was quite nice but quite average. Before I started eating it the bottom half of the bun was soaked in burger grease and was mush. The chips I wouldn’t be surprised if they were McCain’s straight frozen or possibly some other brand, but not fresh made. Holding the burger together was a wooden skewer and placed on top of the burger was two slightly cooked onion rings which I would say also come out of the freezer. I have eaten better burgers from McDonald’s or Burger King for half the price. My wife had Dover Sole and said the fish was nice, but over priced. For a sweet four of us had baklava. It’s was a fair portion of baklava, but rated about a 6.5 to 7 10. As we left the pub I only counted 4 people in the pub, perhaps there were more that I couldn’t see, this was at approx 18:30 on a Saturday evening. The inside of the pub is nice, shame about the prices. My wife asked me would I come here again, I replied I wouldn’t choose to come here, and she agreed. It wasn’t my choice to go there for this visit. The quality of the food doesn’t warrant such high prices."

We stopped for snack type lunch en route to Southsea. Settled for a couple of starters and coffees. Sevice was friendly and efficient. Would call again if in the area in future

We went as a couple on Saturday night and was very surprised there was only 2 other tables taken, we soon realised why, 2 drinks £15 , Guinness £6:90 , food portions very small , food very average, food well overpriced. It’s far to say we won’t return.

Unusually quiet after last visit but faster service this time and very good food again. Plenty of menu choices and good portion sizes. Lovely fresh goats cheese salad and chunky chips which the others enjoyed Mediterranean kebabs can’t wait to return. Oh and they do Sunday lunches too. Voir le carte

Our party of four enjoyed the atmosphere and our lunchtime meals at Jekyll and Hyde pub. Food was hot with generous quantity. Servers were pleasant. Marked down for both Lamb Skewer and Baklava unavailable today although I had previously advised that my wife was Greek and looking forward to our visit today.

We hadn’t been here for quite a while, were surprised by how quiet it was. It was a hot lunchtime it has a lovely garden. We were passing thought we’d pop in on our way out for the afternoon. Our lunches were nice, but, we thought, very expensive. It’s a shame, but others have mentioned it too. The staff were lovely.

Absolutely terrible experience. We had to go and ask for menus. Took 30 mins to take our drinks order, food took about an hour and one of the mains was missing. 30 mins after our desert order was taken, they came and said it hadn't reached the kitchen so we just told them to leave it. Awful service, average food (at best) and terrible experience. Expensive prices, will not be returning. Voir le carte

We came here for dinner after our last visit many years ago. The restaurant is now run by a Greek family and the menu has some wonderful Greek dishes. The pub is very pretty inside and outside. Warm fire and wooden beams etc We were greeted very warmly by Chris who spent time with us over the course of the evening with menu recommendations and places to visit in Greece. I highly recommend the baked feta parcel for starters and the chicken skewers for the main. For dessert the Baklava and home made icecream were divine. Strongly recommend visiting this pub.

Went with spouse and had a lovely dinner at this beautifully decorated place. Staff was so polite and welcoming, can't define it in words, simply brilliant! Food was delicious too, hummus and pita was great to start with and was abundant quantity. Grilled hallumi was okay-ish, no bad though. Chips were crispy and hot, so I'd say they did well with that too. Main course: Thai Green Curry (veg) was amazing, it was really tasty and yet wasn't overloaded with oil so didn't hid my gut hard, so happy with that. We also had desserts: baklava and J&H homemade vanilla ice cream with walnuts. Both were good, I loved ice cream more though. Will be back again!!

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
