"Here I can only forgive 3 stars. The price-performance ratio was o.k. The food of my colleagues was good and tasted good. First, the roast potatoes were forgotten. Ich finde diese Restaurant gar nicht gut.Schlecht Service und Essen.Im Fleisch war sogar Haare.Ich musste mehr als halb Stunde auf Essen warten.

Hier stimmt alles, das Essen schmeckt, große Portionen, Preis noch ok, viel Angebot, schöne Lage am Münsterplatz, besonders im Sommer, immer nettes Personal!

wer gerne üppige Mahlzeiten zu einem guten Preis hat, ist hier genau richtig. Wir gehen immer wieder nach Bad Säckingen und der Walfisch gehört zu unseren beliebteren Restaurants. Die Bedienung ist immer nett und das Essen schmeckt immer sehr sehr lecker. Kann also nur empfohlen werden!!!

Ate here in May 2017, had a delicious Holzfällersteak (pork steak) with potatoes and onions. Extremely hearty and filling. Also a very generous portion!The staff were lovely and welcoming and I had a rather delicious riesling as well.Was in the area for the week and this was one of my favourite meals.

Schön gelegen am Domplatz. Das Essen war gut und der Service sehr freundlich und speditiv. Die Spare Rips sind leider nicht vom Grill sondern werden anders vorgegahrt. Doch wem die Zubereitung stmeckt wenn das Fleisch vom Knochen fällt sich diese gut. Ich ziehe die Grillvariante mit "Knochen abknabbern" vor.

Good location on a sunny day in the main square. Large menu with only a few vegetarian choices, but my gemuse strudel (vegetable pie, translated on the menu as 'vegetable wobble') was excellent served with spinach and baked cherry tomatoes, with a salad starter included at €13.80 . Large portions. Meal for two (my partner had pork) with two large beers came to €38.40.

Super delicious Sparerips and allies good bourgeois food at moderate prices. The location is great. The food tastes great! Absolute recommendation. Unfortunately, the shares were reduced for 2 months, but even price. The operation is overgrown. There are two who are friendly, two are pretty merciful. Absolute No Go's are mineral water served without bottle and crystal wheat sometimes has lemon in it, sometimes not. Unfortunately there is no food from 21:00. And it can happen that there is the DURCHGE hot kitchen on weekends only from 17:00. Really good food, but the service... so there are only 3 stars.

"I was part of a large group of ca. 20 persons, at a lunchtime in midweek. We were warmly greeted by the admirable staff into a modern and airy dining room with an open view of the kitchen area. My beef and root vegetable soup...was superb, and superbly presented. My main dish was veal steak with green asparagus, again beautifully cooked and with the best ingredients. I followed this with a dessert of variations on red berries imaginative, good to look at and very tasty. We drank a light and delicate pinot blanc followed by a good Spanish cabernet franc. With coffee, the price came to a very fair Euro 62 per head. There was a choice of three main dishes asparagus, veal liver or veal steak. I feel if there are only three options it would be better to have more variety; anyone who didn't want to eat vegetarian or veal would have been unlucky. Our group was a little bigger than we had announced when booking, but it would still have been good if the staff had told us up front that there were limited portions of liver available, as several of us had chosen that only to be told they had run out (but at the end of the meal they brought us mini portions of the liver to try a nice touch). None of these minor quibbles would stop me giving this restaurant an unqualified recommendation. I will be back with my wife very soon to again enjoy Herr Pilz's fine cooking."
