"We booked this on the basis of reading all the reviews across Epping facebook groups and was honestly looking so forward having seen some images of the outside dinning and the “smoke house menu” sadly This wasn’t the case. 1. We turnt up to a...completely empty restaurant (Saturday night) 2. Wasn’t offered a drinks menu, they stock 1 bottle beer and we waited about 15 minutes whilst the lad serving us tried to find a bottle of wine. 3. No music or atmosphere just the sheer silence of an empty restaurant and we could just hear the chef chatting away about his personal life 4. Asked about the smoke house menu and we was given the al la carte which was completely different and had nothing of what we had seen on it. 5.Ordered pigeon for starter, really tough and bland 6. Didn’t have any sharing steaks so went for fillet. Had to send back as it was cold and way too rare for what I ordered. 7. 2 more tables joined later on but what was infuriating was that one table was relatives of a staff member and just had the owner and another random guy sitting around drinking, talking (even swearing) just not comfortable dining. Overall we are well and truly disappointed. To pay £100 for poor food, in basically a rich mans shed is just not on. We could have gone miller and carter, had twice the amount of food for half the price and had a better night."

"My partner and I were looking for somewhere to grab lunch in the afternoon on NYE. I found the Horseshoes on a Google search, so booked a table as it looked good. It's a cute little countryside feel, cozy pub. Upon first looking at the menu (which has quite a lot of options), the prices seemed slightly higher than some other places in the area, but the waiting staff said that the portions come out large they weren't wrong! Food was very good and excellent value for money. I had the sausage and mash, and a side of onion rings. My other half had the pork bellies and we shared a side of cream spinach. Was all great. Total bill came to £50 (including one alcoholic drink and a soft drink). Staff were attentive and friendly. Food came out fairly quickly. Vegetarian options: Limited vegetarian options."

"Theydon Bois had been crying out for another eating option and Il Bacio opened. We couldn't have asked for a better restaurant. A little piece of Italy on our doorstep. Delicious food, great atmosphere and have made new friends in the village and from outside. Il Bacio has brought many new visitors to the village which benefit all the local businesses. It's an asset that would be greatly missed if it were to close."

"Although we no longer live in Epping we still drive the 40 minutes or so to get here. Birthdays here have become our family tradition. Even with some of our family unable to eat dairy they were very patient explaining to our group what they could or couldn't eat. With a free drink at the end and the manager taking time to speak to us, it's all part of their great service. Make sure you book, it gets BUSY. Dietary restrictions: More than happy to discuss some of our guests non diary requirements. Parking: You get free parking around the back.or you can try the high street."

"On arriving was told once seated that there were no pizzas or garlic bread due to having no staff able to operate the oven which if we had been told when we booked could have chosen to go somewhere else as it meant that some of us had to order a different meal The portions of pasta were very small and there were only 3 small meatballs with one of the pasta dishes. The seafood risotto had only one prawn in it and 3 out of the five mussels could not be opened which means that they were not cooked properly. None of the waiters checked to see if everything was ok with our food and we had to wait 20 minutes between the first courses and the mains even though it wasn’t busy in there They also wanted us to pay a £10 service charge with the bill stating that there were 6 people but one of them was only 7 years old so shouldn’t have been included as an adult When we refused to pay the service charge the waiter was very rude and did not even apologise for the poor standard of food and service! I would never go back to this restaurant again or recommend to others as there was not one thing any of us liked about it!"
