You could easily walk past the doorway to this place but it’s worth looking for. The menu has a good variety of well priced options. The quality and portion size is great. The service is excellent. Find this place and enjoy a great lunch.

We stop for lunch , all terrasse seem to be full when we saw this little restaurant on the second floor of a building in the square. Although the place has no terrasse it has plenty of window and fresh air. The lunch was delicious and strongly recommend this gem

Such a lovely little place.I was visiting York with my husband for a couple of nights and whilst my husband was watching football I decided to visit this place for a spot of lunch and it didn’t disappoint.I ordered a chicken and bacon salad which was delicious.I didn’t have a cake but was very tempted.Staff seemed very friendly and accommodating. A fabulous coffee shop that was a perfect stop for a quick breakfast before our busy day ahead! Throughout the meal I often found myself commenting on how nice individual parts of the meal were For a sandwich, salad (with very nice dressing), and slaw, it happened a lot! Very nice atmosphere, amazing staff, and fab food and drinks! Absolutely will come back the next time we are in York!

It’s a lovely little cafe with a great view to look out onto. That’s about it. The food is somewhat average and anything “warm” is often served cold. The prices have definitely hiked up but doesn’t reflect on what you get. The staff are ok. Little to no effort and both times I’ve been to this cafe, the woman who I assume is the manager has been rude to customers, to the point one family walked away.

this is a first for me hear and i was so very impressed with how it was so very clean and tables and chairs was set out and both the food and staff was very good and a very good menu as well to choose from and the staff said if wanted to change any thing on menu and add or take away it was no prob nothing is any prob for the very good staff we will be back soon to the great staff i say thank you for a very nice meal Voir le carte

A brilliant independent coffee shop. Not on the high streets, but up one flight of stairs. Best coffee in York-uses ‘Hasbean’ coffees. Very rare to have extra hot water with the coffee. Generous food portions with a lovely salad on the side with our sandwiches and baguettes and home made dressing. Superb service, lots of staff on Saturday and tables cleaned promptly after people leaving. Really nice cakes truly satisfying.

We stumbled across Harlequin on a busy Saturday in York and were lucky enough to get the last table by the window. The staff were friendly, professional and gave us time to view the menu. Range of food on offer was excellent, and very reasonably priced. We had coffee and cake, then returned another day and had lunch of jacket potatoes. Very generous portion sizes. Toilet facilities are good and are cleaned regularly. Will definitely make this a go-to whenever we’re in York!

What a great place with amazing coffee. 3 off us visited for a coffee, it was so nice that we stayed for a 2nd hit, we later returned for a 3rd visit that day with partners but elected for a super chilled beer and Gin and tonics. In addition to the cafe on the 1st floor they have a great outside area right in the middle of the square where you can sit and take in the great York atmosphere. Ditch the chain coffee brands and experience a one off. Will be visiting again very soon. Voir le carte
