Very nice restaurant nice modern design. Food was very testy and modern service was excellent. We have been at noon it was little noisy.

The food was very tasty, well presented and described. The staff was very competent and the atmosphere like having dinner in a private home with an open kitchen . Also , dog friendly !

I always liked the cooking, but I will not return. We were served a bottle of Lynch-Bages that obviously wasn't alright and even when we ordered another even higher margin wine to show that we did not mean to cause a loss, we were still charged the full amount.

Global travelers may not think about typical German cuisine as particularly 'fine cuisine'. Gustav makes it clear this is inaccurate. We found the food to be outstanding, the flavors notable and the pairings creative. The wines were very nice too, and the service was very friendly, especially for a high-end place.

Location very nice, atmosphere very nice, decoration very nice, noisy neighboring table which is bad luck:-(4 course menu incl. wines and water for 140 EUR each is on the high end for Frankfurt.Service of the sommelier was excellent, but the rest of the staff needs clothing upgrade and service manners upgrade! The amuse-bouche were very good, the starter was too salty and too much kryo powder! The First course was better and very tasteful! German Michelin starred urban restaurant, you might think: sure they will use fresh local products, they'll certainly be fond of beetroots and onions and the wine list will be made of nice foreign wines and low-sugar champagnes. And you would be right. But it is hard to apprehend Gustav's cuisine only by tasting the individual, and otherwise delicious meals you are presented with in the beginning of the dinner. With some rather high serving pace, each dish is simply overwhelmingly tasteful. And then there was some perfectly cooked leek with ground nuts and burnt cream, and everything about this place suddenly made sense. The cuisine is warm, precise and honest, and it is purposeful. Reception was of normal gesture - however, I thought a reference from the reservation for my birthday would have been possible.The section of the restaurant where we were seated was cold and there was not much improvement possible despite a tea and a blanket offered to my girlfriend. Thered wine served was at a white wine temperature, would obviously not warm up and was not changed. So in all we kept feeling uncomfortable. After four years in Frankfurt, we are coming to the end of our German adventure. As luck would have it, we have finally found a really first class restaurant: Gustav. It is one star Michelin standard which is about right. Atmosphere in restaurant is lively on a Tuesday night, but not too loud and decor is attractive. Service is attentive but not overly so. Food is excellent. Amuse Bouches of potato and apple dumpling and mushroom broth were both tasty, as was the sourdough bread. None of these were wow.
