"I 've lived in the village for the last 20+ years and seen a few different restaurants, stand where madras spice is now one of which was very nice and since then they haven 't lived up to the 'taste of india ', however went to madras spice recently, and it goes to show don 't judge a book by its cover, because even-though visually the restaurant isn 't the best, yet, i say yet because i think they will improve it. However you don 't go to a restaurant for the looks you go for the food. Based on, it was great all the food tasted very fresh with their homemade sauces and curry 's, the staff are great, asking for vital feedback which is understandable and then explaining about the food you order which i liked, give them a chance you won 't be dissapointed, if you want delicious, fresh authentic india cuisine, give it a go."

the place was taken over and is now much more beautiful. very clean inside and eating was really good. the personal is super friendly. we will definitely come back!

We had one of the best Indian meals here. Very friendly service. Food all cooked fresh to order. Chef came and chatted to us about what we ordered and how it was made. Totally recommend you come and try for yourself.

I would like to recommend madras spice horspath for the amazing food they serve. eating is really fresh and the hospitality of the staff is excellent. negligibly expensive and a big scream at the chef deepu abraham when he personally visited the table to ask for the food and when it was for my pleasure. great job boy! from outside, the place looked more like a traditional pub than an Indian restaurant and we were not sure what to expect. Indian food is one of my favorite foods and eating that I had here was some of the best I eat. if they like Indian food and have not been at this place, then they must try, they will not be disappointed. If I could give more stars, I would!

It is worth making a trip to Horspath to taste the food in this Nepalese restaurant at Chequers Pub. We enjoyed a relaxing meal in a quiet, unfussy environment. Starters, including the Chicken Momo, were excellent. The Gurkhali Special Chicken and Chef's Special Lamb were both delicious and satisfying, with perfectly cooked meat in rich, high-precision sauces with great complexity and taste depth. Will definitely return. Service was very attentive, friendly and helpful.
