"I initially visited this restaurant with a friend who is a member of the Town and County club. I expected it to be elegant and upscale, but it turned out to be a very ordinary cafe with average food at reasonable prices. However, what sets this place apart is the beautiful garden. Sitting there, you would never guess you were in the bustling town center. It's peaceful, secluded, and a great spot to catch some sun. I highly recommend visiting on a nice sunny day, so much so that I returned a few days later with my family."

I did not know this existed until a friend recommended it to me. It is away from the Hustle and Bustle of the town. A lovely water feature in the garden. The staff are friendly and obliging. A good selection in the menu and the food is good. I am really pleased that my friend recommended this hidden gem.

Always a great place to go when I am visiting in Northampton. Great atmosphere, great service, set in an oldy world setting, lovely fresh cooked food . My third visit we stayed for 2 hours. Its lovely in summer as you can sit outside in the garden. Waitress said they are going to redo it into a 1940s style but I like it as it is.

Recommended by my sister who lives in northampton, not a huge place, and a hidden gem . For the first time this year we sat in garden as weather glorious. So nice. Service excellent and friendly food good maybe a touch hotter for sausage sandwich) . Great meet up place or I can see lovely in summer on your own with book. Definitely would go again. Lovely old fashioned China cups etc Voir le carte

I had the pleasure of visiting this fantastic restaurant during a day trip from St Albans, and I must say I was thoroughly impressed. The interior is stylish and the food is delicious. However, what truly stood out was the atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Though it may be a bit hard to locate, this hidden gem is definitely worth the search. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I stopped by for breakfast and had an excellent full English meal. The service was lovely and friendly. The restaurant is a bit hidden away, but it's worth finding your way through the entrance, down the hallway, into the courtyard seating area, and then turning right into the restaurant. We also grabbed some delicious cakes to take away for later, and Sue and the rest of the staff were very helpful. Thank you! A P.

"I had the pleasure of visiting La Terraza Tapas Bar in Upton with my kids, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The ambiance was incredibly cozy and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a family outing. The friendly staff added to the welcoming atmosphere, making us feel right at home. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the tapas selection. The steak with chimichurri sauce was a burst of flavors that left us craving for more, and the Tempura prawns were simply delectable. It's clear that the chefs here take pride in their creations, as every dish we tried was a delightful journey for the taste buds. As a first-time visitor, I was thoroughly impressed by the overall experience, and I can confidently say it won't be our last visit. While the prices leaned slightly towards the expensive side, the quality of the food and the cozy ambiance more than made up for it. La Terraza Tapas Bar strikes the perfect balance between a gourmet dining experience and a comfortable family outing. I also appreciated the cleanliness of the restaurant, which is always an important factor for me when choosing a place to dine. All in all, La Terraza Tapas Bar offers a fantastic option for a memorable lunch with family or friends. If you're looking for a place that combines delicious food, a warm atmosphere, and a touch of elegance, this is definitely a spot worth considering. AKASAKA Japanese

AKASAKA Japanese

"I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."
