Officina - Carte

Went there with Kids on Mothers Day. Although some claim it is a bit loud, it makes you feel comfortable when with Kids, as noone (apart from nice waitres) pays Attention to them. Good Food, reasonable prices (but not very cheap), what else does one Need.Clear recommendation

Went as part of a large party, so little choice on the menu a variety of antipasti to start, meat or fish for main and then a heavenly tiramisu for dessert. The waiting staff were very attentive for a large group and did a...good job. They looked after us well and there were no complaints.

this is a nice place to eat, quite friendly, in a nice building just tucked off the street, the menu is quite comprehensive, with an array of pizza if that is too your liking. the traditional Italian dishes are also quite good, though I did find the lasagna lacking in flavour a bit, but the grilled octopus was lovely. Two levels, some bigger tables with benches, which facilitates conversation with other diners or you choose a smaller table for some...more privacy. It took some time to be able to order food despite the restaurant not being full. Prices at the higher end of mid-range (without me having a deep insight into prices in Essen).

This is definitively my favourite Italian restaurant in Essen. The restaurant is one of four, which is run by the same owners. While others are more fancy, the Officina offers great food in Italian style atmosphere. Bring your kids and family or come for a...business dinner...Have one of the terrific large pizzas, pasta, meat or fish everybody is bound to find something. The ground floor is more busy, the upper floor is also large but offers more possibilities for intimate conversation. In the summer months, this is also one of the scarce locations to sit outside on a great porch. Be sure to phone ahead to ask for a free table!

Visited a couple of times over the last 2 month or so. The ambience is quiet nice and deserves a very good to excellent rating. Nevertheless the food is a hit or miss. If you charge 24 Euros for a rather simple fish dish you would expect constant quality as well as preparation above average. Unfortunately this is not always the case. Sometimes it tastes great, two weeks later the exact same dish is just bland and overcooked. The wait staff is not used to criticism, so it can be quite a discussion if something is not done right. I went here several times last years while visiting my sister. The building is a bit hidden away from the street. Like other reviewers mentioned the atmosphere is more casual.Downstairs they offer large tables for groups and upstairs a bit more usual restaurant like setting. Certainly this is a perfect place for large groups or family with children, because no one will bother about the noises since it is already noisy anyway.I ordered here once pasta, but that was a slight let down since it was not anything special ( my pasta with mushrooms had no fresh mushrooms). But the pizzas are big, thin/crispy and the topping is good. The wine selection is decent too. Since this summer they offer also... Voir le carte
