"my man and I found this jewel when we went back to our cruise ship. we found that it looked so mischievous – as it was a storm – we had to throw a look into it. we were surprised that it is a Portuguese restaurant, whose owners/kitchen originate from there. we got a table in the cylindrical room, which provided a good atmosphere. we were not really hungry, so we ordered a teller with mixed tapas to share. we were happy to see vino verde on the menu we always have when we are in portugal. both were delicious. the waiter/owner was very friendly and welcoming and we are grateful that he did not take care of our small order. on a cruise they never starve! we hope that next time we will return to hamburg for a bigger meal."

we were looking for a local and by chance we passed the galego. it is very cozy where there is something noisy. we had the mixed fish plate, which was very appetizing. Can only be recommended.

we came in here by chance, actually we wanted to sit outside in the Portuguese neighborhood. but we had a good feeling here and were not disappointed.Very friendly service and first-class food. the tapas taste us all like homemade somewhere in portugal. we like to come back. Voir le carte

the owner of this restaurant is a very welcoming gentleman! the other staff is also pleasant. the location is quite unique! I don't know much about Portuguese eating, but my experience here was very good! we had sausages, patatas brava and some fish. we will come back in future!

After all the restaurants in the hamburger portugiesenviertel were completely crowded, we were able to take a little waiting time and a drink to the contemporary place. reception and service were very cordial, friendly and quick, the eating was good, bacalhau and francesinha, you can't stand it.

eating is generally good and plentiful, the place is small and cozy, but weakly lit (as old lighthouse he has no windows). the only thing I said was that they did not tell me that the cards from the country do not work, they told me that it was a mistake, but they should have done it before the order. we found it when we were sleeping in hamburg, it says Galician tasqueria, but they are Portuguese. the tapas are very tasty, exactly the right amount, the atmosphere is great with fados in the background and the waiter/barmann/owner is the best. very nice and friendly so we have a wonderful time. when they visit hamburg, it is a must, they will not regret it. many thanks for this pleasant and good time ...

we went spontaneously to galego yesterday and had really great luck getting a table as the restaurant was very well visited. we love portugal and the Portuguese cuisine very and felt as if we were there immediately. eating was very tasty and authentic Portuguese. my highlight were the sharp kartoffeln as an appetizer. freshly prepared, sharp and mega tasty. the service was just great and we felt very comfortable all night. we come back 100%. a piece portugal in hamburg.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
