"We are long standing regulars of the San Carlo brand both in london and Manchester so thought whilst shopping we would stop in for a quick bite at the cafe within Selfridges. It was a disappointing mistake and one we shall not make again! Upon arrival we were greeted with rude hostility by the waitress who would not let us sit with two people on the bench seating. She then moved another couple and put tables together all this whilst grumbling . We then asked where the toilets were and she was even ruder. She said over there in a tone that was accusatory of being stupid it was however our first visit and there were no signs. Whilst eating we also noticed that she was swearing whilst the phone was ringing saying f+ck off! Our food arrived and it wasn’t up to the San Carlos standard and did not represent anything the brand stands for. The chicken ciabatta only had half the chicken in it so half the sandwich was literally just bread see photos we also had someone else’s rogue chip mixed in with the sandwich as we didn’t order chips "

Its a cosy restaurant. I really advise you for pouch egg with avocado spread. The best . Esin is lovely!

I just wanted to thank all the staff at San Carlo Gran Cafe Manchester for making our Afternoon Tea experience special. From booking to leaving yesterday, everyone was professional, attentive to our needs and really pleasant. As you would expect with San Carlo and Selfridges the food was of a very high standard, swapping savouries/cakes/drinks to suit our dietary requirements. Compared to other Afternoon Teas this was quality at an extremely good price. I have already recommended to friends and will definitely be returning in the near future.

My daughter and I always eat in this cafe when we shop in Manchester. It’s usually good food and the service is good. This time the food was good and service was good, however we had an issue. Staff were conducting interviews and meetings either side of us. So what should have been a nice relaxing breakfast was interrupted by the fact that one side a manager was having numerous people for interviews, we heard every interview in detail due to the fact that the tables are very close together. The other side 2 people were having a meeting over Christmas displays and targets on laptops discussing work. Surely they have other places in the store where this can be done without disturbing paying cu...
