"We called in after a meal out hoping for a nice quiet few drinks in a village pub. Unfortunately there was a live act on with the volume up so loud that it was impossible to speak to each other. There were about a dozen or so other locals screaming and shouting for more music. As the live act wanted to go home, the landlady handed the mic to the drunks in the pub to pass around. It was like being at a party in someone’s living room when they’d all had far too much to drink. Landlady and her mates were obviously enjoying themselves too much to care about what was going on because a fight broke out which ended up with blokes outside shirts ripped off and blood everywhere. Such a shame because the pub has been refurbished to such a lovely standard and looks fab. Needless to say, I don’t think we’ll visit again. Never seen anything like this in Billinge before and don’t want to again."

I tried to book a table here for my sisters birthday, only to be told they do not do food anymore, what a shame.

Nice food good menu and vary good price, it’s more a pub than restaurant but the food is very good, service quick and drinks reasonable,

It is OK if you just want a drink but they don't serve food. Not half as good as it was a couple of years ago when they served good food. Just a wet bar.

Not a friendly welcoming pub, far better and clean pubs in area. Would not recommend all staff not friendly felt uncomfortable. The manager was rude when asked for clean glass.

Since it has been done up there is only a small area that will allow dogs. The table in that area is very high up and not comfortable to eat at. Much better before it was altered.

Seen the reviews so had to try a Sunday Xmax dinner you get a big plate full of fresh veg and meet well worth the money great friendly bar staff. Had to wait a bit for meals as only one girl serving and she was trying to cope with a pub full of people waiting for food think that was the thing the waiting time for food.

My husband and I visited this restaurant and were looking forward to a delicious meal. Unfortunately, my husband's hip dislocated as soon as he sat down, so instead of a meal, we had to call an ambulance. The staff were very helpful and gave us space while he was being attended to. They also informed other customers so they wouldn't worry. A big thank you to the staff for their help. We look forward to enjoying a meal here the next time we visit.

Visited the pub having never been before. As a younger group we were stared at and made to feel uncomfortable. The bar staff took one look at us and told us there was no tables available, and the food service was behind. This is fair enough, but it was paired with a dirty look, and we could see a vacant table- despite them not taking bookings. Perhaps, purely because we weren’t regulars, even though we live only 5 mins away. Heard similar stories, specifically around regulars. Obviously stick to their own, but you’re hardly in a situation to turn away business...

I attended a RAOC veterans reunion there last night. We had a wonderful time, the pub staff and landlady went out of their way to make us happy. When the bar in the function room was not working they arranged for a young barman to collect t our drink orders, go downstairs to the main bar and bring up the orders, poor lad was up and down those stairs all evening and did it with great cheerfulness. The buffet was ni e, with curry and rice, various sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini pork pies and some cold cuts of meat and cheese. It was lovely. The locals enjoyed what we couldn't manage. All in all a very good evening nd well worth the 2 hour trip from Birmingham. I'm already looking forward to n...
