The pub was closed when we arrived, even though they had accepted our booking. We didn’t receive any communication from either the venue or OpenTable beforehand, which led to a wasted trip.

I would rate this restaurant zero stars because the location was closed upon arrival, with no indication of when it would open. After a 70-mile trip, there was no communication from OpenTable or Duck on the Pond to inform us that they would be closed. Voir le carte

I would rate this restaurant zero stars because it was closed upon my arrival, with no indication of when or if it would open. It was a complete waste of a 70-mile round trip. There was no communication from either OpenTable or The Duck on the Pond to inform me that the restaurant would be closed.

So we booked a table via Open Table, received an email confirmation, set off on our half an hour drive, arrived at the restaurant to find it shut, only to receive a text message 15 minutes later to say the same. Not a great start to our Saturday night as then had to drive to Leamington to be turned away from 2 further restaurants who were fully booked to finally sit down for dinner at 8:30. Next time we will call them directly. Ordinarily enjoy this restaurant so very disappointed to reflect this in the scores.

Unfortunately, we were unable to keep our reservation at Duck on the Pond. It was purely coincidental that we discovered, just 48 hours before our visit, that they were closed indefinitely. I had tried calling a dozen times to see if I could change the time of my reservation, and I only found out about the closure after sending an email. It would have been helpful to have been notified sooner. We don't live in the area; we were visiting for the weekend, so we were relieved to find out in advance and were able to bring our own food instead of getting dressed up only to find the restaurant closed. May have been fine if they had more staff on a saturday night. massive potential but seems like a lack of experience ruins it, waited hour and 20 for 3 burgers, ended up being burned and dry. with other bits undercooked had to go to the bar for our drinks as no one came over the whole hour to check on us or explain where the food was, we could regularly see them behind the bar. We were also not the only table waiting for ages for food, or drinks, we actually had people come in after us and have 2 courses before we got burgers. I would put it down to a bad night but on this occasion it more represented a weatherspoons than a gastro pub sadly. I will happily amend my review if i go there again...

Unfortunately, we did not get our reservation at The Duck on the Pond. By pure coincidence, we discovered just 48 hours before our visit that the restaurant was closed until further notice. This information only came to light after I had tried calling numerous times to change the time of our reservation and eventually sent an email on the off chance that someone would respond. It would have been much appreciated if we had received more notice. Since we do not live locally and were visiting the area for the weekend, we were fortunate to learn about the closure in advance and brought our own food with us.
