"We went for lunch today and, as always, it was wonderful. The portions of homemade food were generous. We started with prawn cocktail and tempura prawns, which were deliciously crispy. For our main course, we had a freshly cooked omelette and toastie, perfectly prepared with a side salad and chips. There is a wide variety of food options available that cater to everyone's tastes. The landlady and staff were friendly, and the service was efficient. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. Congratulations to Emma and the team, you are a great asset to this establishment."

"I was really disappointed with my Sunday lunch and fish and chips. The Sunday lunch lacked seasoning, the cauliflower and beans were almost raw, and the lamb had way too much fat. I don’t mind a bit of fat on lamb since it's naturally fatty, but there was more fat than meat. As for the fish, it was overcooked. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and offered us a complimentary lime soda and apple juice to apologize for the issues. Service: 4, Location: 3."

"Oh dear, how sad this beautiful rural pub has been completely ruined by a landlady who openly only cares about taking your money and wanting you to buy overly expensive food on a very limited menu no vegetarian options at all). I really wanted to see this pub as my late grandparents had met there many years ago, we have history in the area too as they owned farmland there. On arrival were greeted by a woman whose smile was so false and reminded me of an uptight primary school teacher, who desperately wanted us to buy food and not just drinks. We felt hurried into making a decision of a very slim selection of drinks. I had a coffee that was about 3 mouthfuls. The garden and pub itself is beautiful, and worth seeing. However, our experience was ruined by a landlady who obviously only bought this pub to turn it into a gastro pub and and cash cow. With obviously no interest in the local history at all, after my husband tried t make a conversation about the family we had had in the area. She just asked if he wanted a menu!! A word of advice would be, from a business perspective would be to at least fein some interest. Sadly it is not the quaint little rural pub that it should be, while I understand making a profit is paramount in business at least try and be more genuine if you would like people to return and buy overly priced food. And at least pretend you are interested in local history, because guess what that might be the reason people are going there. It was obviously a pub, in a very small village that was once the heart of the community."

"Very rude bar staff! I politely asked if I could watch the England Women 's World Cup football semi final match at about midday when the pub opened. There was only one other customer in the entire pub. The staff member 's reply was a curt 'No '. Not 'sorry, we don 't show sport here ' or whatever (I can 't think why they wouldn 't but I know some pubs have a policy on that). The match was on BBC1 so it 's nothing to do with not having a sky subscription. Just a straight 'No '! I then asked if the answer would be the same had it been the men 's England team but she didn 't reply. I wonder why? Maybe because the likelihood is it would be shown and the pub would be bedecked in England flags and bunting with the obligatory bouncy castle for the kids? I know for a fact that Rugby and Wimbledon tennis is shown there (it 's on their Facebook page) so maybe they think football would attract the 'wrong sort of people '? I 'm having to guess all this because the only word uttered was 'No '. Needless to say I left. Perhaps the manager could reply to this and give a reason? I 'm sure others would be interested. It couldn 't surely be a simple case of women 's football being seen as unimportant? I mean those days are over aren 't they?"

"Food not great considering wait. Was told no beer on pumps, to then watch others being served it minutes later. Told we couldn't sit at our table a little early as too short staffed, then watched People at the bar served food. Wait for food once seated was way too long with our children getting fed up, then they tried to over charge us by over £20. Awful service, also asked for water for the table which was obviously forgotten. Breakfast the next day was awful too, really disappointed."
