"We wandered around Salzburg for the evening before heading back towards the Hauptbahnhof. Not a huge selection of restaurants around the station - I suspect that they have all migrated to the Altstadt where the tourists go. I rather fancied the Turkish café round the corner - I like Turkish food, a lot. But my wife went for this place - handy for the station, well, as in right outside the front door. What's it like? Well, not bad. It seems to be an Austrian chain that I've never seen anywhere else, perhaps because I've never visited Vienna or indeed any other large city in Austria. Perhaps this is the impression they want to give. It's a little soulless, compared to the Austrian mountain hut Gemütlichkeit that I have become used to. Not unlike a railway station waiting room in fact. At least they have avoided the Death By Pine And Stuffed Animals décor - I dare say the Austrians get fed up of this as well. I ordered the Dish of the Day - Mushroom Omelette with Mixed Salad, 8€20. Perfectly nice. It came garnished with salad, and a separate bowl of more salad, so perhaps a bit too much salad for my taste. My Wife had the steak, which was a bit more interesting but again, not wildly exciting. The service was excellent, nothing too much trouble. They charged up my Handy for me, which was nice of them. One day mobile phones won't run out of electricity - mine spends so much time plugged into the wall that I might as well have a landline."

Our hotel's concierge suggested us to come here to eat and we did a good choice by coming! The food was really good, the service pretty fast and the personal kind.

Very attentive service, great food, great atmosphere, clean and classy. Staff spoke very good English and happy to explain menu. Would recommend to weary travellers. Close to railway station.

Nice little restaurant at the train station. Came here straight after coming from Vienna and were taken aback with the friendly staff. We were happily surprised! Couple of nice sandwiches and a delicious goulash soup. The waiter also recommend us to try a typical Austrian soft drink which was nice to try something new. Voir le carte

Visited with friends at lunch time after traveling via train from Munich, we were hungry and this place looked nice. The waitress was very rude, rushed us through ordering and slapped food down on the table. Being Christmas Eve, the restaurant was not busy and we were taken aback at the attitude. Not a great first impression to Austrian customer service. Food portions were small for the price.

We ate here right after arriving in Salzburg by train and right before we had to take a train to our b&b, so for convenience sake it was a perfect place to eat. The menu is all in German, but the waiters speak English and were helpful with translations. This is a good place if you need a quick bite to eat right before traveling or before leaving the train station, and it is reasonably priced too.

I took a bus to Munich at 11am so I decided to come here for breakfast, because I heard many good things about this café/restaurant already. And the things I heard were right!Typical Viennese café – very friendly waiters with great humour. The food and drinks arrived very fast, bread was crunchy as it should be, they serve local products and the price compared to other cafés is very, very reasonable. I’m looking forward to my next journey – so I can go there again for breakfast. Voir le carte

There are not a lot of restaurants surrounding the train station and bus depot or near the Austria Trend European Hotel so after searching for a restaurant, we came to Wiener Cafe and Restaurant Johann! We were pleasantly surprised with our dinner selection of Wiener SniItzel that accompanied a small side salad and potatoes. The food was delicious, the waiter was kind and friendly offering us a menu in English and the service was excellent! It's good home cooking and reasonably priced. There is outside seating if you can tolerate the smokers!

I had a brief breakfast on my last day in Salzburg. I was not convinced as their menu is ideal for lunchtime rather than a normal konditorei or morning coffee. Modern and cold furniture, no atmosphere at all, it could be a standard hotel cafe and nobody would notice the difference. However, a limited selection of typical cakes and ice creams is available at the entrance. Service is ok, the order is taken at the table so make sure you know which cake you want beforehand. The espresso was not great; on the contrary, the cake was deliciously sweet and berries below chocolate were perfect.A bit pricey as breakfast turned out to be more than EUR 6 but it was the only proper wiener cafe near the st...
