"We were staying at St Davids Park Hotel for the weekend, to which, we had a wonderful stay. A local in the hotel bar, recommended the Glynne Arms for food and so we headed to the Glynne Arms, where we had a lovely bite to eat. On our walk back to the hotel, we popped into the Crown and Liver for a drink and wish we had never of even bothered. The service at the bar was abysmal and kind of embarrassing/awkward! The place overall looked tired and dirty. The toilets were dirty and the toilet roll had run out. The whole place seemed to be full of drunks and it wasn't even late on. It was really noisy, for the time of day. A middle aged lady with long blonde hair, I would place in her fifties, who was serving behind the bar, was dressed in fancy dress, which I must add, was most inappropriate for her age, showing way, way too much cleavage, with another younger lady, with long dark brown hair, who was much the same. It wasn't attractive at all. There were young children in the pub at the time. This is certainly not the attire for any pub, which is welcoming small children. For the Management to allow this, it is rather distasteful. We will most definitely, be skipping this pub on our return next year and will head straight to the Glynne Arms and will perhaps try the Fox and Grapes pub too."

Ladies toilets and disabled toilets were both out of order. Expected the ladies to use a cubicle in the men’s toilets. No toilet roll. The place needs a major overhaul. Won’t return.

We absolutely love this place, it's a quintessential village pub. It may be mainly frequented by locals, but we are from Liverpool and always receive a warm welcome. Thank you for being such a great pub! xxx

We have lived near The Crown and Liver in Ewloe for over 30 years. We had only been once before many years ago and the food was terrible. However, we decided to give their Sunday lunch a try after seeing a post on Facebook. We are so glad we did, it was wonderful. I had requested a table away from others as I am undergoing chemotherapy and they accommodated our request. The roast lunch was delicious, we had a starter and a main course. The staff were friendly, the food was hot, tasty, and there was plenty of it. We will definitely be returning, thank you.

Myself and 5 friends visit the Crown and Liver every Tuesday night for the quiz! Fanatic every week, busy with a great friendly atmosphere that you don’t often get these days!! Facilities are really good, with a nice beer garden at the back for good weather and plenty of tables and seats in the bar and lounge area. We also go for drinks on a Friday or Saturday where there is always either karaoke or a band playing, which is always good!!! One of the few busy pubs left in the area, and definitely my favourite one!!!! Bar staff are ace, they bend over backwards for what ever you ask for, nothing is too much trouble, always polite and make you feel welcome!

"Went for a drive Father's day and ended up having a meal here, we rang and luckily got a table for 7pm. On entry to the Celtic Arms it was a high walled gated area with absolutely beautiful gardens which went on for some considerable area, it is a golf club as well and a beautiful golf course with golf buggies opposite the restaurant. Opposite the golf buggies their is a play area that as I recall was fenced off but attached to the restaurant as its also a bar. On arrival to the resteraunt the manager was extremely warm and welcoming and escorted us to a table just outside of the restaurant. During the time we where in the Celtic Arms I observed the waitress in the restaurant constantly clean and spraying the tables which was absolutely so reassuring since the last covid people have relaxed a bit to much. A young lady who was equally as welcoming came and as us for our order, it was a set three course meal at £23.99 which we felt was really reasonable for such a lovely place. Halfway through our time in the Celtic Arms the young lady went home from her shift that had intially taken our order and I pressume we then passed to another waitress. I felt we where out of the eye of the bar but not in the restaurant so got a little forgotten about, although once we called a member of staff to remove our plates these where remove immediately. The starters where delicious with plenty of prawns on the prawn cocktail and the pate had an amazing homemade chutney. The mains where lamb and beef with the whole meal being cooked to perfection and hot with vegetables cooked just right. A lovely touch we felt was the lady out of the restaurant came and asked us if everything was to our liking and was there anything of the meal we would like a little extra off, I dare say you won't get a ton of potatoes or veg but the gesture was very touching and to be honest the meal size was ample. The desert white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake we shared and both agreed it was delicious, and we then shared a cheeseboard which I had got on the three course set menu. The delicious chutney again appeared with varies cheeses, crackers and grapes. Our compliments where left with the manager and the staff with our thanks for serving and delivering multiple resteraunts can not quite achieve. Well done Celtic arms for your polite, professional manner and serving a delicious good quality meal which was ample portioned, reasonably priced in an excellent environment. Would definitely recommend this place it's beautiful and wins hands down on the last 20 plus places we have been over the last few months. We will most definitely be going back again."
