"As a local, I recently discovered this coffee house for the first time and was initially impressed by the fantastic decor and warm reception from the staff. However, I was disappointed by the long wait for my panini, which took nearly 25 minutes to arrive. Despite the busy cafe, I decided to order a fresh coffee to enjoy with my meal. Unfortunately, my coffee was not brought out in time and I had to request it from a colleague who seemed preoccupied with other tasks. When I politely asked for my coffee, the colleague became defensive and claimed I had been rude. The situation escalated when the person in charge chastised me for interacting with the staff and suggested I take my business elsewhere. Overall, I was unsatisfied with the service and will not be returning to or recommending Coopers Coffee House. I believe that customers should be treated better, and constructive feedback should be valued."

Very nice. Reasonable value. Excellent bacon sandwich. Good looking cakes. WW2 tunes on the muzak. Prompt and courteous service. Perhaps for more mature clientele?

To have run out of skimmed milk in a so-called ‘Coffee shop’ is really unacceptable. Why not pop locally and pick some up! Both my friend and I wanted a skinny latté we were told unavailable yet they said they ran out yesterday I don’t think that’s good enough.

Popped in on the off chance and was pleasantly surprised. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. I had tooth ache and they couldn’t have been kinder. Jacket potato cheese and beans best I’ve had. The cakes all looked home made and next time I’ll definitely try. Everything was very well priced. Will recommend.

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The staff greeted us warmly and provided excellent service. The drinks and snacks were delicious. We will definitely be returning as the atmosphere was both enjoyable and relaxing. This is a great place to stop by when in the area. Thank you for a job well done, and we look forward to visiting again soon.

"From the off, everything was bang on point. The warmth of the welcome, being taken straight to our table and offered water and an aperitif promptly. We, a party of three, opted for the set lunch, which offers very good value for money. £29.50 for two courses, £35 for three, with two options for each course. Two of us opted for the baked Roscoff onion with pearl barley. Simple ingredients but beautifully cooked with a truly sublime brown onion sauce of such intensity, it lifted an already lovely plate of food to another level. The other person had the ponzu cured mackerel which she pronounced lovely but she had serious food envy over the onion dish. The main courses were grilled hake, which again was sauced to perfection and a grilled bavette with a vegetable medley and a pea? puree and a meat jus. We added a small dish of dauphinois at £5 which complimented everything very well. We drank a good and reasonably priced Rioja Blanco. No room for dessert sadly. This restaurant is not cheap but there is a difference between cost and value and The Elephant offers very good value with the set lunch; it allows you to sample really very good cooking at a price that will not break the bank. The normal a la carte menu is around double the price but on looking at what this offered, I would say that it again offers good value for money, being a step up in choice with more expensive ingredients. This is a serious restaurant. Go there. You will not be disappointed."
