"As a group of four adults, we visited The Frog, we had eaten here before a few years ago, and thought that we would give it another visit. First impressions were good, it was not busy and we were promptly shown to our reserved table. We were given menus and were told that they would take our drinks and food order at the table as they weren’t busy, ordinarily we would have to order at the bar. We were the only people in the restaurant and after a considerable wait they came and took our drink order, we then, after another wait, had to ask for someone to take our food order. The food can only be described as ‘heated up’ food, frozen chips and vegetables, and did not look appetising whatsoever, certainly not worth the money, and this was complimented by the slow service, I hate to think what the waiting time would be if the restaurant was busy! The restaurant looks good at first glance, the furnishings are very nice, but looking around, the room needs a good clean, cobwebs and dust around the walls and ceilings, and would benefit from a repaint,and we could hardly see the lovely view of the river through the dirty windows. Such a shame that this lovely position on the banks of the Avon has left us with the feeling that we shall not return anytime soon."

"I'm veggie. the only main course on the menu that interested me was a dish that I had eaten in our local pub on the eve. so they produced a Mediterranean meal only for me. happy. with a smile. nothing was too much annoyed and it was so good that I would eat it again tomorrow!"

"We happened upon this pub looking for a meal that evening (Tuesday). The lovely owner said that he could accommodate us but there wasn’t much food as he was usually closed. He came up with duck, scampi or ha, eggs and chips. We opted for the duck. He took my name and number and arranged to arrive around 6:30. Such a lovely friendly pub, a couple of drinks then we were taken into the restaurant. Loads of old classic motorbikes in there, fab. It turned out to be a set meal, soup (didn’t know what it was, surprise) turned out to be mussel soup. Absolutely delicious with a nice big g chunk of bread. The duck was cooked perfectly, came with mash and fresh veg and home made soup plum chutney, delicious Thought that was it but no, dessert was delicious included as well, out came a Oreo cheesecake, again homemade. Superb welcome, delicious food, we will be back! Thank you"

"I cannot speak highly enough of this place. I have been coming at least once a week for over 5 years now and have never been disappointed. My wife and I are big foodies and have high standards The food is absolutely top notch and this, along with the service and welcome you get from Alan and his team brings us back time and time again. The only other place I will go for a curry is when I go back to London for a visit, which is where we lived for 16 years before coming back to this area. This is an absolute gem of a restaurant and whenever any friends of family visit, a trip to Balti Hot is always a top of the list!"

"This gastropub dates back to the days of William Shakespeare but, having laid empty for some time, it was reopened by two chefs in 2012. Stopped by for drinks on a Saturday afternoon in February. Enjoyed the well-kept HPA but would have preferred a more traditional bar setting as all of the tables were setup for diners. There is a lovely outdoor area and also a marquee, and this clearly gives drinkers more options when the weather is warmer. Returned later that day as part of a much larger group for dinner. Despite the entire place being full of diners, service was efficient, attentive and very friendly. I was slightly disappointed with my main, the pesto tagliatelle carbonara, because the ‘added pulled chicken’ didn’t resemble its name and appeared to replace most of the vegetarian ingredients; overall a little bland and too stodgy. I did enjoy my mussels starter and everyone else was complimentary about their choices. Overall it was a very good experience but not quite worthy of a 5-star review."
