"I went to the Chiang Mai Kitchen for the first time a few weeks back as part of a large party from my office. Overall I was very impressed with the whole evening. The location is very central, so convenient for those out in Oxford, although it took us a minute or two to find the entrance itself. Once inside, the surroundings were pleasant, the atmosphere good, but most importantly the food was lovely.I tried a variety of the dishes and all of them were really tasty and well cooked...some were very mild, whilst others had a real kick, but none of them tasted like they had been made more spicy for the sake of it.By way of criticisms, the food was a little slow to arrive, although I'm sure this was down to the size of our party, and sometimes it was very hard to catch the eye of staff in order to request more drinks etc.I'll definitely be going back to the Chiang Mai soon."

This is probably some of the best Thai food I've ever had.

I have been many times and have enjoyed the restaurant setting as much as anything. The food is very good, the Thai Green Curry is excellent but it is the hot soup like curry rather than the milder creamy type Thai Curry. Always enjoy their rice and starters also.

wonderful, I had a fantastic first date, a dinner with friends and my final dinner with family here and I really love it. it is quite small in the inner, so it has a cozy atmosphere especially good in winter. I would recommend the tom yam suppe and thai ice tea especially!

chiang mai was in oxford for a loouong time, and with good reason. make sure they book as it is in high demand, also on many weekday evenings. the menu is very comprehensive and very high quality. everything is made clear fresh to order and service is great. it is cozy when a little cramped, but oozes with character from the old Oxford building it occupied. make sure that they use google maps to find it as it is a small side street away. I really like the restaurant and have been quite a few times now. The menu is varied with a wide range to choose from, the food is of excellent quality with great flavours and carful, beautiful presentation. The staff are friendly, attentive and dressed in tradtional dress. Trying to find it can be tricky as its down a little alleyway (we walked pass it several times without realising) but once inside it opens out to be a fairly big place and good decor. Do make sure you ring and book in advance though as its a popular place, especially at weekends.

our evening on our Oxford day trip ended with an evening meal in chiang mai kitchen. we have moved over our day quite well and the meal time with enough space to the railway station with ease. chiang mai brings the elegance and the charm Thais into this city. there is a beautiful presentation in the offer and the curry knocked out our (tired) socks directly. we took our seats right away, but we had warned that the kitchen served all the items quickly. we ordered the massaman curry rindmeat 9.95,) chicken cashew ironing-fry 8.70) and the fried tofu 6.) and a side arbitrary cocosery 3.40)

"I've been going to Oxford for 3 years now and in that time to be frank struggled to find a decent go to restaurant. I can now say with delight i've found my destination. I present SPICED ROOTS a little caribbean culinary gem. The fresh perfectly cooked food is absolutely delicious and gives off that home cooked by mummy vibe and is beautifully presented. The chilli and garlic prawns had my eyes closed Mark Weins style (if you know you know) so juicy with an incredible depth of flavour, the Trini doubles not only were seasoned to perfection they left you wanting more and the Jerk chicken spring rolls were an absolute triumph. For mains we had the ackee and callaloo Jerk Tempah (vegetarian) and the Jerk chicken. Both came with rice peas, plaintain and salad. Not only were the portions huge the flavours of both dishes were just mind blowingly delicious. Then we embarked on dessert and had the beautiful spiced rum cake and a selection of 3 home made ice creams namely Coconut, Guinness and the old Caribbean favourite Rum and Raisin, all recommended by the owner. It's at this point I feel compelled to speak about the rum raisin ice cream. I've eaten this ice cream on numerous occasions at numerous locations in Jamaica over my many years and I tell you no word of a lie this was hands down the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted, it literally left us speechless. So to summarise, this place has great food, great music, great service and a wonderfully charming owner who's totally invested in serving great, incredibly tasty, authentic Caribbean food clearly prepared with love. What more could you ask for. Fair to say it was meant to be. Uncle Jay."
