"Your restaurant came highly recommended and the food and wine was absolutely superb. Unfortunately this is where the great experience ended as we have never been made to feel so uncomfortable in a restaurant by the people serving us, to the point that we couldn't wait to pay the bill and leave! We were the first table in the evening at 5pm and were seated right by the bar but we struggled to get eye contact with the staff who were either chatting behind the bar or staring into space. At no point did they ask us if everything was ok or if we wanted another drink. We tried to engage them in some chatter when they served us but to no avail. I don't know if in someway we offended them but we really could not work out what we had done wrong to be treated this way. Unfortunately we will not be returning, which is a shame as the food is excellent. Fortunately our evening was not completely spoiled as a visit to the local community centre in Nairn found us invited to a Ceilidh and a very warm welcome and fun evening."

"Hugely disappointed with Sun Dancer, we’re in Nairn for 3 nights visiting from Edinburgh, we booked two nights at the Sun dancer as we’d visited and enjoyed dinner last year. Tonight was so disappointing, it was dire. I had the fish and chips, it should have not left the kitchen, not sure what quality control the chef has in place but any decent chef would not send out a dish with chips under cooked and fish with batter that was soggy and bland! I’m not sure if the fish had been frozen and the chips certainly suggested they were frozen. When you are in a party of 4 you don’t want to spoil the atmosphere by complaining but I ate little and did mention to the waitress when the plates were taken, her response was oh they like to get feedback! Really! .. she should have removed it from the bill! My friends mother had lemon posset! It was awful, hard and not as a posset should be, we did complain about that and to be fair to them they removed from the bill. We left a gratuity as it’s not the waiting staff’s issue however, being so disappointed with the quality of food and responses from staff, I unfortunately would not like to go back!"

"My recent visit to this restaurant with friends was very disappointing. We used to be regular customers when we lived nearby, but now that we’ve moved away, we thought we would come back for the amazing food we remembered. Unfortunately, the service was slow and our plates were not cleared between the main course and dessert. Despite only a few other tables being occupied and enough staff, the service was still lacking. The carbonara was average and the cheesecake was almost frozen in the middle and lacked flavor. The menu hinted at a change in ownership, and after reading other reviews, it’s clear that this has not been a positive change for the restaurant’s reputation, quality, and service. The offer of 2 courses for £15 or £19, depending on the time, was misleading as we were not informed that it only applied to a starter and main course, resulting in a higher bill than expected. There was no explanation or apology given for the oversight. The food was okay, but not worth the price. It’s a shame because we had spoken highly of this restaurant to friends and family, but our recent experience was disappointing. Despite the good company we had, we won't be returning. "Still awaiting owners to call us after a week so writing my review, Would you tell you night staff thank-you so much for spoiling our wedding anniversary on the 21st July 2013,we booked for two nights stayed 1 as we were kept awake with blaring music until 12.15 am when I called down to ask them to shut it off to be told oh it's my P.A system kicking in?, then awakened by gulls at 5ish am that can't be helped, up at 7 for b/fast we liked the hotel although bathroom bit small for me being disabled unable to use shower, at breakfast we told Don lovely chap surprised at what went on that we wouldn't be staying another night so you got £150 for nothing guys well done...Don the manager lovely chap very pleasant and helpful and we enjoyed the live music, we asked when it would be shutting down to be told 11.30pm ok we thought great to be kept awake.So that lets you down guys we travelled home on our anniversary as we couldn't afford another night anywhere else...very disappointed you haven't contacted us about this matter shame on you and oh I have still the call record when I called down to tell them enough is enough just in case it's our word against theirs..so got home safe and sound although very tired and frustrated never ever have we been treated this way so no would not recommend ...guess other guests either heavy sleepers or don't like to complain Yours Sincerely Mr&Mrs Moffett Fife"

"During our holiday in Lossiemouth, we dined at Jackos with our dog for lunch. The food and service were both outstanding. I ordered fish and chips with a side of coleslaw and onion rings (the onion rings were possibly the best I've ever had, they were large and had a delicious sweet flavor). The fish and chips were also excellent, as was the coleslaw. My partner enjoyed the mac and cheese as well. We were pleased to find that Jackos is dog-friendly as an added bonus. Overall, we would highly recommend this restaurant."
