"The pub is nice enough with outdoor seating and pleasant service The menu is not very inspiring. There is very little for vegetarians and nothing if you are vegan except a baked potato with beans. I had a very dry halloumi sandwich with salad and...chips- nearly everything comes with chips. The halloumi was thinly sliced and the bread was thick. A very small salad garnish helped a bit. Other meals appeared to go down well- fish and chips and gammon with an egg- standard pub fare, redolent of the Ok if you are not fussy."

Food is perfectly well cooked but nothing out of the ordinary. Service was good but restaurant was not busy.

Called in on a Wednesday lunchtime and had a light lunch accompanied with a good real ale. Service was excellent and the food very good at a sensible price.

Walked to this pub on the off chance it was dog friendly, it was !! The couple running this pub are fantastic, friendly and happy to talk, the Sunday lunch roast beef was the best I've had for a long time, beer excellent, wish it...was my local !! Highly recommended.

A pub that was open midweek, providing a simple lunch and a warm welcome on a cold January day. Friendly and welcoming staff, good beer and food in a characterful environment. A perfect pub lunch! This is a gem of a pub and the new...managers deserve to do well. Brilliant!

Super small village pub. Friendly staff. Cosy. Everything cooked freshly. Light bites and full meals. Check opening times before visiting on their website. Easy carparking. Excellent Wcs. Loads of country footpaths from village to neighbouring villages and hamlets. Excellent value for money.

This pub has not been open on the last days we have tried to visit. Wasn't open today at or despite a board outside with opening times saying it should be open. We have also visited a couple of times on Saturdays...over the last couple of months, and despite it being after when is should open on Saturdays, it was closed with no sign of life. We wouldn't have minded if a sign was outside saying it was closed, or the website says closed, but everything suggests this pub should be open but it never is.

of us were meeting up briefly to swap a dog for two teenagers (don't askl) and I chose this pub based on the reviews, despite the fact that none of us knew the area at all. We received a really warm and friendly welcome...on arrival and the fact that the other car had got lost and would be later than our pre-arranged time was no trouble at all. The food was homecooked and very good and the overall price was very reasonable. The pub itself was beautifully appointed and very clean. Heartily recommended.

We visited The Chandler Arms on Saturday November and what a charming visit it was. Great atmosphere, very good service especially from Dennis Julie, good selection of wine Prosecco oh and they even had pink gin which is a new fave of...mine. Food menu is small (new management did say they are working on an up to date menu) we all managed to pick something very tasty although brown bread as well as white bread is always a good alternative. We had a great few hours in the pub and we’ll definitely be back

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
