"The atmosphere of the restaurant, both inside and outside, is very pleasant with a beautiful garden. The amenities are good, including a spotless disabled toilet. The restaurant is clean and has character. However, the main drawback is the limited menu with limited food options. The food offered is fresh, locally produced, and good quality, but there is not much choice and no flexibility for variations. The breakfast menu, while cooked well and nicely presented, lacks options such as porridge, croissants, or a variety of sandwiches. The prices are high and the homemade cakes are disappointing. The staff is helpful, pleasant, and polite. It's a nice place for coffee, tea, or hot chocolate and is mostly geared towards adults, although children are welcome. Limited parking is available and the restaurant is conveniently close to town. Wheelchair accessibility is possible but the ramp is steep. Overall, the restaurant has a rating of 3 for food quality, 4 for service, and 4 for atmosphere. Sourdough toast is recommended, and there are some vegetarian options available but not extensive."

I had a delicious lentil tabbouleh salad with roasted seasonal vegetables (fennel and snap peas) topped with an almond and lemon dressing at this restaurant. They typically serve it with halloumi, but the staff kindly offered to swap it out for fried mushrooms. The vegan cake options were plentiful, and we enjoyed ginger, chocolate chip, and miso cookies. Our waitress was very helpful in finding vegan wine options, and my husband and son enjoyed the house-made cola. Booking online is simple and highly recommended.

I’ve been to Cast cafe four times in the past three weeks (a tad obsessed at this point) and I can safely say it’s my new favourite place to eat and drink! The food has always been excellent and the coffee is an absolute delight, plus the staff are always welcoming and friendly too. I invited some friends down with me the last few times and now they’re waxing lyrical too. All in all a really cool little place, looking forward to our next visit for poached eggs and chorizo! "We were staying in Porthleven, so booked Kota in advance, as we were aware of this interesting restaurant from previous holidays in Porthleven. We had the six-course dinner menu with the wine pairing, for which my food allergy was well catered for as most dishes were the same as my partner’s. The initial three “snacks” were a delight, as the flavours and textures made them delicious. The second course of BBQ leeks and mussels were an amazing combination of flavour and texture. The third course of beet curds, molasses, and chia seeds was a delightful combination, and I say this as someone who doesn’t really like beetroot. It made the beetroot the sweetest I have ever tasted without overpowering its flavour. The fourth course of brown crab sauce with the seabass was delicious. The fifth course of pork belly with accompaniments was superb. For dessert we had “Milk and Honey”, a white chocolate mousse, Porthleven honey, caramelised milk powder, and soda bread ice cream, which was a wonderful blend of flavours and textures. The wine pairings were very well matched to the dishes. I also appreciated the nicely laundered large linen napkins that we had. The restaurant had a nice ambience, with interesting subtle music which we enjoyed. Our waitresses were very friendly and informative, carefully explaining the dishes and the wines to us upon arrival. The service was excellent. We had a very enjoyable experience, and after this first visit will go back again when next in Porthleven."
