"Horrendous coffee. Three of us ordered flat white coffees. The lady dispensed them into mugs from a machine. There was lots of white foam on top. When we started to drink them and stirred them, all there was appeared to be a lightly coloured liquid with no taste or flavour of any coffee added. After 3 sips each we left them in disgust. The cafe was very busy and the queue to the drinks was very long, so as we did not have much time we continued on our journey. I wish now we had complained about the quality. It reminded me of dish water or the coffee had run out whilst being dispensed. I wonder if whatever coffee you order, it all comes out of the same spout. Never again."

Quick service even though it was busy. Tasty food. Shady seating outside appreciated on a hot day. Handy if you're travelling on A303.

I stop here every time I come from Cornwall to Surrey and wouldn't stop anywhere else. Lovely homecooked food, at very reasonable prices, served by friendly approachable staff, highly recommend!

Stopped on the way home from holiday to let the dog out. It was very busy but we didn’t wait long for food 5-8 minutes. Food was lovely much better than the normal service station food. Highly recommend

Have regularly used this cafe as the food was good but really disappointed this time. I ordered the beef lasagne and it was microwaved to the point it was burnt at the bottom and dry to eat. When I informed the waitress she was uninterested. I won’t be eating here again

We often stop here on the way back to Swanage from Bristol. Staff are always polite and friendly, they look happy to be there Incredibly cheap meals, all food comes out very quickly and is well presented. Toilets extremely clean and well maintained We always need a quick pit stop, Cartgate is perfect for us

Sad to say I believe this cafe only maintains business due to location. Food was poor. Cheap bread rolls, undercooked bacon, no butter. (I did ask, was told we don 't do butter Staff were slow with no hustle! I 've been here a couple of times in recent months, and this time was the last. In future, I will stay on the A303 and find a Greggs.

70p surcharge for soya/oat milk ! seems unfair when you would like regular milk but can't have it due to medical condition. Appreciate the expense to the business might be linked to the process rather than the milk itself, but would be fairer to factor the cost into the general price of drinks rather than penalise people who happen to be lactose intolerant. Sorry but not impressed.

Stopped today half way home to let the dogs out . Stumbled on this fantastic cafe picnic area . With tourist information/shop toilets and showers . Brilliant parking for our caravan . Decided on a meal , one full breakfast , one curry jacket potato , one child’s chicken nuggets and chips . All amazing and brilliant value for money . We will be calling again when holidaying that area . Thank you to all concerned.

"Our first visit to The George Inn at Donyatt, we've drove by it time's going to other places and it always looks such a nice place. We decided to have lunchtime meal there to celebrate our anniversary and weren't disappointed, beamed ceilings, log burner and brick fireplace, farm tools and pictures on the walls cosy and oldie worldy with friendly locals just how we like our pubs. The staff and owner were really friendly, polite and chatted to us as if we locals from the village, the waitresses were smartly dressed, polite attentive always smiling, cheerful, charming and chatty. Even the chef nodded and smiled to us the couple of times he walked through and the bar and table areas were spotlessly clean. Our meals starters and mains were absolutely fantastic and amazing as was the presentation, they were hot good amounts of food with tender succulent meats and vegetables and the mashed potatoes were creamy smooth and light and have never had better. There's a good selection of beers and I had local ale which was amazing, clear, cool with a nice head and tasted like nectar. We will definitely be coming back soon and we can definitely recommend this pub, restaurant and hotel to family, friends, neighbours and anyone. A very big well done and thank you to the owners, all the staff especially the chef, please please please keep this pub the way it is, it's an absolute treasure and gem of a place to find. YOU ALL MADE OUR ANNIVERSARY VERY SPECIAL Especially in these times when a majority of local village pubs are closing down and being turned into houses or flats, we must all support our local village pubs like The George Inn."
