"It has been a few years since I first opened at the Cafe (Restaurant) Simonz. It must have a reason why it first stayed at this single visit. But now the opportunity came to be a guest again. A friend from the media scene wanted to discuss a few things with me. That his office and also his residence in the Wuppertal district of Arrenberg is his proposal for our meeting that Simonz . I could suppress my manageable enthusiasm, which is not a problem with an SMS. So to the Arrenberg district, which I always visit with mixed feelings. There are some activists in the scene talking about Arrenberg, but I don't feel right there. The Simonz is located between many old and many buildings in need of renovation. Before that I looked at the Simonz's homepage. Now let's say it, my enthusiasm was equally clear. But noticeable on the homepage of the note that there is one of the most beautiful beer gardens in the city. That is precisely why we did not convince ourselves of this company as it were years ago. Hasimausi and I were at that time exactly the opposite opinion. We experienced one of the worst beer gardens in the city. So from Cafe Simonz, added with a low expectation. And it didn't get better after I stepped in. It looked exactly as I remembered. The chairs, tables and even more came from different periods. Their visible wear had to suffer the chairs 50 years ago (or even longer). Bad tongues would speak of trash furniture. But there are design-oriented people who find the chic, in and trendy. But we better leave this little targeted discussion. My acquaintance was already on site that cafe/restaurant was clearly filled. I'll never feel good here. Well, my opinion is not decisive, the Simonz is probably already about 10 years (estimated) and can obviously claim. An operation brought the cards. Maps in a restaurant I don't read intensively at first, but read them first across to immediately detect any positive incidents. In this card I stumbled several times about the terms Bio, Vegan, Meatless, Oat and Soy. Well, I thought my part. If I had said what thought had been formed in my head, Hasimausi would have punished me. But she was not present. Well, well, we were both my acquaintance and I were arranged to discuss a few things here and not arranged to enjoy a nice dinner here. Therefore, our desires to operate were somewhat oriented towards snacks/hips/small gastric fillers. Positively, the beer brand Pinkus from Münster was offered. A small, fine regional brand (Pinkus Müller) from the bicycle town of Münster. Here in the Rhineland a rarity. My colleague had opted for the salad plate with goat cheese, honey and nuts and ordered a rarbarb Schorle. In comparison to the Kölsch is Rhabarber Schorle................................ Oh, let's go. While we discussed and discussed our topics, I had the opportunity to look around. That I didn't like the ambience, I don't have to emphasize again. That was all far away from style or a certain gastronomic elegance. There may be critics who would speak of a quite simple equipment, but even that would have been too thick. No Birkenstock sandals and also no woollen stockings (sorry for the next prejudice), but still something green links oriented. Well, I didn't want to have a feel-good evening here, but for half a business conversation you need an acceptable ambience. Now a mixture of the former and now aged alternative green list and some from the 68s movement. In addition, younger and medium-old voters by Robert Habeck and certainly also by Dr. Anton Hofreiter. But there were also some suitcases. Our food was served. My astonishment was more than great when I saw the salad plate of my acquaintance. Big, wide, high and much. Yes, too much, at least measured with my standards. Or badly formulated, a rabbit could have mutilated for 2 days. However, without the abundantly portioned goat cheese which rested on the top of the kilo salad, for rabbits hardly eat cheese. My friend was also surprised. He praised everything. Salad in its variety and also in its freshness. Also my penne with stripes from the ragsteak was generously portioned, at least the pasta. However, in the stripes of the Rumpsteak the cook was recognizably economical. When I then brought my first loaded fork to my mouth, I was far away from a satisfaction. When the cook has prepared the Italian pasta in a pot with hot water, he may have called it loudly into a pot al dente, al dente, al dente but he has probably not listened to any of the noodles. The noodles prefer a soft consistency. And the stripes of the Rumpsteak? Acceptable average. It is possible to prepare better and also to observe the quality of the meat more carefully. I was only satisfied with the planned Parmesan. But this was about 0.5% of the total unprecedented pasta work. Conclusion: The evening was successful, based on our conversation. We reached agreement and then consumed one or other cold drink. My acquaintance passed away from Rhabarber Schorle (a good decision) and changed to a Bad Bio Grauburgunder, which he expressly praised. Since we hadn't had to drive anymore, I changed from Reissdorf Kölsch to the beer of Pinkus Müller. Also very fresh bread with neat dips, which was probably not made by Handelshof. The evaluation of the food is not easy. My acquaintance was very satisfied with his salad, we interpret school grade 2 from it. I can only leave a smooth 4 with my dough. In other words, good 2.5 stars for food. The service was striving not to establish a relationship to the guest. I have extensively informed about the ambience. When we left the house, my view fell into the already autumn beer garden. At the time as today, I could not see one of the most beautiful beer gardens in the city, as it is on the Simonz homepage. ps. My acquaintance was informed in advance of the content of this review. He can sign everything that way, but has something ****? Why? Now he expressly insists not to belong to a group of green Robert Habeck pendants. I congratulate him."

We ate here with friends who recommended it. Very popular with the locals. Large tasty dishes and good value for food and drinks. Also a nice garden area at the rear.

Ambiente sehr schön ! Eine alte Schule wurde hier umgebaut! Biergarten sehr idyllisch! Der service war sehr bemüht! Aber chaotisch! Getränke durch die bank viel zu warm !

Wohl der einzige angenehme "Bier"garten neben der Hardt in Wuppertal, Sitzmöglichkeiten etwas unbequem. Innenraum auch ganz nett. Etwas zu hohe Preise für Speisen und Getränke.

Les vins sont à un prix relativement doux et le service est souriant. Un lieu agréable à conseiller, clientèle jeune et décontractée.

Wir waren spontan mit Freunden hier. Im schönen, ruhigen Biergarten hinter dem Gebäude konnte man gemütlich die günstige Suppe sowie Oliven mit Brot verspeisen. Dazu gab es schöne kalte Biere.Eine Anreise mit dem Fahrrad ist problemlos möglich, da im Hof viele Fahrradabstellplätze vorhanden sind.Wir kommen bald wieder hierher!

Egal ob Biergarten oder innen: sehr heimelige Atmosphäre im Simonz. Dazu gutes Essen und schöne Weine (in der Flasche oder offen) zu mehr als moderaten Preisen. Sehr freundliche und rasche Bedienung. Angenehmes Publikum. Häufig Live Musik. Recht gut zu erreichen mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln, Parken ist im umgebenden Wohngebiet allerdings mehr als schwierig.

Untergebracht in der alten außer Dienst gestellten Hauptschule in der Simonsstrasse entfaltet das Cafe Simonz eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre. Nichts, was man hier erwartet hätte, auch wenn der Bezirk Arrenberg mehr Überraschungen bietet als man denken würde. Ob zu einem wunderbaren Frühstück, oder einem originellen frisch zubereiteten Mittagessen, hier ist man am richtigen Ort. Das Ambiente, das die schulische Vergangenheit nicht zu kaschieren sucht, lädt zum zwanglosem Beisammensein bei Kaffee, Klatsch und Kultur. Ich geh immer wieder gern hin.

Wir kehrten bereits vor einer Weile im Simonz ein, aufgrund von verschiedenen Empfehlungen, gerade für den wechselnden Mittagstisch.Die Speisen sind bezahlbar, vor allem aber auch keine Standardküche sondern durchaus ausgefallene Speisen, die es nicht in jedem Restaurant gibt.Im Sommer ist der Biergarten geöffnet, im Winter gibt es einige Tische im Innenbereich.Ich habe mir eine Suppe und ein Nudelgericht als Hauptgang bestell und war mit der Wahl sehr zufrieden.Obwohl das Cafe nicht übermssig voll war, liess die Aufmerksamkeit des Servicepersonals etwas zu wünschen übrig, jedoch sehr sehr freundlich, wenn man diese genoss.Wir kommen gern wieder.

Bei schönem Wetter lockt der ruhig gelegene Hinterhof mit seiner Vielzahl von Sitzmöglichkeiten. Nachmittags ist neben dem Kaffee besonders der Kuchen zu empfehlen.Drinnen prägen dunkle Holztische, verziert mit bunten Farbpritzern, die unter Klarlack versiegelt sind, und ein eklektizistischer Stühle-Mix die beiden hohen Gasträume. Die Tische stehen für mein Gefühl teilweise etwas eng. Unaufdringliche Musik aus exzellenten Boxen unterstützt die ansonsten entspannte Atmosphäre im Simonz zu jeder Tageszeit.Die Karte bietet Hauptgerichte zwischen 12 und 18,50 Euro, aber auch günstige Kleinigkeiten. "If a family has been leading an Italian Sicilian restaurant for 40 years without interruption in a German city, you can talk about a tradition of Italian Sicilians. Forty years in the same place, opposite the Wuppertal swimming pool and not even an ideal location, about 1.5 kilometers from the city. We haven't been here for a long time, of course it's not 40 years ago, but two or three years ago. We have entered, like before, always full. The atmosphere has changed to the advantage. No southern European tourists Kitsch, more purist and therefore contemporary. A friendly restaurant chef welcomed us. That he wore a very chic short black pants (to the knee, surprised us first, but not disturbed us. His figure allowed to wear this designer piece in the German summer. He accompanied us to our beautiful 2 he table in a side room of the restaurant 's. They used to say Separee. In Separee there were two more tables, and especially more to the guests there later. Instead, we restricted ourselves to Grappa Espresso. What else was noticed: On the map of Ristorante Taormina, the ignorant guest will explain exactly what the different cooking levels for steaks (Rare, Medium Rare, Medium, Medium Well and Well Done mean.
