"Use to be a lovely atmosphere with great staff and food however since the new owners have come in the standards have dropped and they don’t seem to care. Visited with a friend for a quick bite to eat for lunch, place was quiet, not like before when it use to be bustling. Asked for a panini meal and specifically asked if the spicy chicken was marinated where they lady behind the till confirmed it was. I am quite picky with my food and if the member of staff confirms something then you expect it to arrive like you expect. When it arrived I could immediately see that the chicken was not marinated, instead there were 2 pieces of chicken, and I’m not lying when I say they must have been each the size of two 50p pieces and super thin, plain and not marinated, the chilly came via some chilly sauce out of a bottle topped on the chicken. The panini was accompanied with a minuscule amount of chips and salad on the side, more suitable for a kiddy’s meal. When questioning the person behind the till who confirmed it was marinated originally replied with “no that’s how it come”, obviously I was slightly irate as it’s not what I expected, and to top it off my bottle of water that I paid £1.50 was Costco’s very own 330ml Kirkland brand. Overall I will not be returning to this place. The food has gone down hill and the owners don’t care. Maybe I was just unlucky and it was and off day but I won’t go again. Food was below average and definitely not value for money."

Has been going to this cafe for more than 10 years. Standard has dropped with the new owner. Rude at times. Was discriminated during our last visit. No more. End of an era.

Shocked that this advertising halal and also serves pork and does not have precautions in place to avoid cross contamination I believe this is against the law when your holding a certified halal certification disgusting.

We went here today for some lunch, reasonably priced food. Lots of options for children and lovely vegetarian options. Food came quickly and staff were really kind and accommodating. Definitely worth trying for some good quality lunch.

My partner and I used to come here regularly and every time, we ask for no mushrooms (due to allergies) and beans not tomato for the english breakfast. My plate had mushrooms and TINNED plum tomato. Not even normal tomatoes that you could push away to the side. This was saucy plum tomatoes that covered half the plate and drenched the toast and hash browns, making it soggy. As soon as it came, the server could see the confusion on our faces to which we politely clarified that the order is incorrect. Rather than the expected ‘oh sorry, how could we fix this’ it became a vocal match of ‘you said, I said’. As if to assume we purposely came to the cafe to order the wrong food and start drama? "It was the most bizarre experience dining here. First when we arrived in the restaurant, our group set up was that there was someone on each end who was sitting facing an empty chair on the other side of the table. Upon enquiry we understood it was a covid measure, however never had any other restaurants requesting such seating arrangements in the past 20 months. We ordered two split pots, a non-spicy broth for one side of the pot and a spicy broth for the other side. The staff came to confirm that we wanted spicy/non-spicy in each pot. Yes, we said. To our shock when the pots came, one pot was spicy/spicy on both side, and the other was non-spicy/non-spicy on both sides. This was after the staff had came by to confirm that we wanted a spicy/non-spicy set-up, and in the usual situation a person wanting a spicy broth would not have asked for a split pot. We raised this to the staff and were clearly unhappy about it, though did not insist on having the broths changed around. What happened next made it the most awkward and uncomfortable dining experience ever. From where we were sitting, we could hear the owner reprimanding the staff for the error, throughout our meal. We understand mistakes occur and if the owner was unhappy about the mistake and genuinely wanted to apologise, taking the initiative to change the broth to the right setup, or a complimentary drink or dish would have gone a long way. But no, he chose to reprimand the staff within our hearing for the whole dinner (which didn't help the situation one bit and made the experience worse! . We felt sorry for the staff. Even with the hospitality shortage, that was a completely wrong way to help the staff improve, nor help retain them in the long run. I don't remember anything about the food, although photos did show a good range to choose from. At the end of the meal we each received a box of hello panda, which might have helped, if not for the fact they were expired. All in all, would not recommend."
