"Utilised this restaurant when staying in the nearby Mercure and not wanting to eat in the hotel restaurant. It’s situated in the fairly sleepy village of Traar north of Krefeld. There’s not a great deal going on in Traar and this looked the best bet from a quick scout round of the available eating establishments and a quick use of the near me now trip advisor feature..I entered fairly early on a Tuesday evening around 7.00PM and although there was only a couple of tables in operation at that time I was shown to a double close to the door. When I asked to sit elsewhere I was told the rest of the restaurant was fully booked. I initially thought this was a fob off for a solo tourist but owed the restaurant an apology an hour later when it had filled up with locals and people without reservations were being turned away. For a place as sleepy as Traar I was impressed by this, as I also was by the food. I went for the mozzarella caprese to start which was very good with whole mozzarella balls, and then on the basis that the restaurant also ran a takeaway pizzeria from the room to the left of the restaurant, I went for one of the seafood Pizza’s which was also very good. The restaurant has a decent décor and old school Italian service levels and with two courses and a couple of Alt beers coming in well under 25 Euro’s I had nothing to complain about from my visit here.In normal circumstances I would rate this as a four star experience, but for the benefit of other lost souls staying in the isolated location of the Mercure hotel I will give it a five to act as a beacon to attract you also.."

Dinner service was crowded but still service was up to speed. Well priced dishes that have the original Italian flavors. Nice selection of whines to go with this food. Staff not overly friendly.To be recommended though.

A cosy restaurant that features nice pasta but also great meat and fish dishes. Besides the standard menu they always have a lot of specials. Pricing is reasonable. Service is great. If you are local or just visiting you will not be disappointed.

We were three in the restaurant. Pizza was ordered twice, once salad. The pizza should have tasted good, which I can't say about my salad. He wasn't bad, but I had too many onions. The part was not the biggest. The staff was very nice and attentive and the prices were ok.

Great service in a typically Italian atmosphere. The risottos are done the old way. You can even find Gillardeau oysters, a connaisseur choice, by the unit. The crew is very nice and attentive. Global price is reasonable compared to the quality. Wines are reasonably priced.

Absolutely delicious food. Risotto con asparagi as a starter, main course of my daughter was grilled fish and mine was australian beef, both were extremely good. The beef was saignant and had an awesome taste. Finally the semifreddo torroncino was a nice dessert. The Santa Cristina red wine was superb as well.

As in most Italian restaurants (at least the good ones), the people were very friendly and welcoming. We were a group of seven people, but service was still quick. Lots of choice - perhaps too much to keep life simple :) - and many really interesting choices at that.We shared starters and the least of the five we ordered was the melon with Parma ham; but this had more to do with the really excellent quality of the other four dishes and less with the actual melon... All four of them were really delicious and everything disappeared very quickly.The main dish (I ordered meat with mushroom sauce) was simply to die for. Just tasting the sauce sold me on the dish and the meat was absolutely great....
