""Your table is over there." Not the best welcome. The chicken was overcooked, the sausages were subpar with very thick skins, and the gravy was excessively thick. We only received one round of drinks and were never asked if we wanted more. We were abruptly asked if we wanted dessert, which was actually quite amusing at that point. The prices are seriously inflated for the quality offered. It seems there has already been a significant decline in quality since the Brunning & Price takeover. I will not be returning, which is a huge disappointment after supporting this chain for many years."

Even though exceptionally busy 21st December celebrating my 60th birthday lunch the food and service were excellent. Cannot recommend enough to visit....

We had lunch for three adults, three young children, and one dog. Our table in the dog-friendly section was ready upon our arrival, just as we had reserved. The service was excellent, and the food was of high quality at reasonable prices.

Lovely building, food was just about warm when it eventually arrived , very slow at receiving all courses ordered , unfortunately not as good as previous visits and quite pricey for dishes on offer ! Also some items ordered where out of stock ! On a plus , pleasant waiting staff . Can't recommend a dish as was not up to scratch .

The Armoury is a lovely and cozy spot where you can enjoy drinks, snacks, or a wonderful meal. The staff members are friendly, professional, and always eager to assist. The food is absolutely delicious and homemade, with generous portion sizes offered at reasonable prices. I highly recommend it for a relaxed dining experience with friends and family!

Having wanting to go to the Armoury for a good while, my wife and I with our two dogs were welcomed with open arms even though they were incredibly busy. Given how busy the Armoury was we can't discount how good the food, service and drinks were and how accommodating the staff were. If in Shrewsbury I would highly recommend a visit to the Armoury for good drinks and food and a great atmosphere!

I stopped by for an early brunch and was initially disappointed to find the menu was limited until noon, especially since we needed to eat before a theater show at 12:30. Nevertheless, we opted for two bacon sandwiches. My grandson declared them “the best,” and he was spot on. The sandwiches were loaded with generous portions of back bacon in fresh bread buns, and the bacon was cooked to perfection.

This is a wonderful place to visit! We always bring our dog along and have an amazing time. While we haven't eaten here yet, the staff is really friendly! The location is also great because you can see outside, which is lovely on a hot day. The food always smells fantastic, and there's a fantastic selection of drinks for both adults and kids. They even offered water for our dog without us even asking!

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
