"During our stay at the Applegarth Hotel, we had dinner at The Apple restaurant on two occasions, as well as enjoying four breakfast meals. The meals were served in the conservatory with lovely views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding hills. The breakfast menu offered a great selection and all cooked items were made with local produce. The food was excellent and enjoyable. For dinner, guests can choose their preferred courses from the menu, with all dishes cooked to order and presented beautifully. Each course we had was delicious and perfectly executed. The service was impeccable, and there was a good selection of wines and drinks available to order."

Had dinner with my wife. Her fish was in crisp batter with huge chips and I had the lamb which was soft and full of flavour. Service is relaxed and friendly. I would definitely recommend.

Beautiful food as always. We always eat here when we stay in the hotel. Such helpful and friendly staff and an extensive choice of drinks, including cocktails. We sat at a table by the conservatory window with an impressive view of the Lake District mountains. Would highly recommend.

The restaurant bar area is beautifully decorated. The chef has nailed the food here. I started with the Thai green lip mussels and followed with the deconstructed fish pie. It was absolutely delicious. The service was very attentive and pleasant, with subtle background music. I went with my partner and we will definitely be back.

Excellent food in a beautiful surroundings, we had 3 courses all really tasty the highlights were the Cumbrian Lamb which was cooked to perfection and served with a tasty spicy sauce. The deconstructed rocky road brownie for desert was also really tasty, Staff were very attentive and service was excellent. A real Saturday night treat will definitely return

Absolutely beautiful locally sourced produce, cooked perfectly, every meal was an absolute treat, had dinner every night of our stay and enough choice on the menu for something different every night, and everyone's dietary requirements catered for. Had breakfast every morning, just lovely, and the heartiest of breakfasts with many courses which will set you up for the day! We will be back, can't keep us away, thank you sooooooo much

During our half-term road trip in the North of England, we stayed at this restaurant for just one night and found it to be the best dining experience of our entire trip. The menu had a great mix of classic dishes with a modern twist. The lamb dish was particularly outstanding, and the service was friendly, respectful, and professional. The wine list was both reasonably priced and of high quality. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We chose from the new menu. We both had the arancini starter which was unbelievably tasty. For mains we had the pork schnitzel and the butter basted chicken. Both meals were beautifully presented and extremely tasty the mash with the pork was the best I’ve ever tasted and the pork melted in the mouth. For dessert we had the poached rhubarb every mouthful was a taste sensation and the pear frangipane tart, again, delicious. We can’t wait to return to try the other things on the menu. Thank you Applegarth Villa!

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
