"The breakfast at this restaurant was absolutely delicious. I tried both the full fry up and the veggie fry up and left feeling satisfied. The smoothies were also fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the veggie haggis was. I definitely recommend eating here! I visited on a Saturday morning and had no trouble getting a table."

"My experience at Burnt Umber was nothing short of exceptional. The dinner menu, infused with contemporary European influences, offered a variety of exquisite dishes. The starters set a high standard, with the creamy burrata and roasted peppers being a standout. It was not just the food that impressed; the wine list was extensive, providing perfect pairings for each course. I particularly enjoyed the recommended wine with my main course, the seared Scottish salmon, which was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. The atmosphere of the restaurant added to the overall experience it was elegantly decorated, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The staff were exceptional, striking the perfect balance between professional and personable. They were attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and offered great recommendations. While the prices were on the higher side, they were justified by the quality of the ingredients and the skill in preparation. Burnt Umber is a true gem, ideal for special occasions or for those who appreciate fine dining. I'm already looking forward to my next visit."

"Amazing crepes and galettes. We had the complete galette and goats cheese with bacon and caramelized pears galette , plus the lemon sugar crepes. Everything was done right, even my French friend was impressed! Only negative is that it is a very small space, so you have to book, and even then they might put 3 people at a table for 2. It was a bit hectic when we went, so I wouldn't try going back when it's busy, but otherwise really delicious."

"This used to be our favourite place to eat. The best buns ever, wonderful ingredients, so well prepared and beautiful every time. However we ordered through Uber eats recently and it was almost inedible, so much sauce in the buns it was a disaster. We couldn't taste any of the fillings (soft shell crab chicken) they were swamped in sauce and quite badly seasoned. Something must have changed, the lady who used to run Sakura was impeccable and the food was always perfect. Our last experience was so far from this it feels like there’s no way it’s the same team. Such a shame as it was in our top places to eat."

"At our table, we noticed that the adjacent table received STK's signature bread right away, while we hadn’t even been offered any. After ordering drinks, we waited about 10 minutes before our waiter came over to ask how everything was. My husband mentioned that we were still waiting for our drinks, which arrived shortly after he asked. We ordered our meals, and my husband chose the calamari starter, which was impressively large. We both opted for steaks. As we were enjoying our conversation, another couple seated nearby received their bread and dip almost immediately. This made me wonder if we had been forgotten, so I asked a staff member if we had missed out on something.... we were indeed overlooked, but thankfully the bread came shortly after. Once our food was finally ready, it was delivered by a different waiter (a runner) to a table next to us and just left there instead of being brought to us. After a while, we managed to get another waiter’s attention to bring our food over. When our meals did arrive, they were quite nice. The asparagus was good, and the truffle fries were delightful—hard to go wrong with deep-fried fries, really. After finishing our meals, we had empty plates in front of us for about 20 minutes. I wanted to order a warm cookie, but at that point, I had lost interest in what was meant to be a special meal, and we just wanted to return to our suite. When we finally asked for the bill, it seemed they were aware we weren't completely satisfied. The bill was £140 after a discount (I had opted out of the optional service fee of £17.50), but we were actually charged £152. I didn't bother to argue about it. For a restaurant that prides itself on its service, we expected much better."
