"Location, town square Alzenau. Friendly Bavarian restaurant, with fine home cooking, excellent menu for meat eaters, 7/8 vegetarian choices, limited to dishes containing cheese and cream, although I think they would prepare something vegan style if you speak German (or translate what you want and...write it down beforehand), or speak to the odd staff member who speaks very good English (most speak a little, but few fluent). Menu written in English also available on request. Choice of beers excellent, all locally brewed beverages, and worth trying them all. Seating is inside or outside, and I fully recommend sitting outside on a hot Bavarian evening in the summer for a beer or three, although you would be wise to book a table in advance as every evening in the nice weather is busy, and from Thursday through to Sunday can be packed outside with any empty tables reserved. Food recommendations, anything from the menu is good home cooked food, served in pans, large plates and breadboards, and almost all main meals are mountainous portions. Vegetarian, the best are the cheese noodles, and flammkuchen which is like a thin crispy pizza with cream, feta cheese, tomatoes, olives and herbs on, again for vegans I think they can cook without dairy, or prepare a salad without cheese, and also a jacket potato (without the milk based herb sauce) if you can make yourself understood, also vegan friendly sides available if you can make yourself understood. If not, why not just eat something vegan from the local supermarkets? Most have an abundance of fresh and ripe fruit and veg, tofu based faux meat products, and a huge selection of bread, and then simply enjoy a few drinks on the porch here, and enjoy the great atmosphere. 3 out of 5 for vegetarians who don't mind dairy products (4 if you really like cheese or milk based products), 1 out of 5 for vegan food, 5 out of 5 for meat eaters. 5 out of 5 for anyone wanting to enjoy a local beer, although strict vegans do your homework on Bavarian beers (3.8 averaged out). Prices, from as little as 5€ to 18€ for food (steak being the most expensive, but locally sourced, around 2.9E for a 500ml beer."

The dishes in the menu look really nice, but once you get your food is not was you expecte. Flammkuchen without any taste. The pasta had a strange consistency.

Right in the middle of old Alzenau and full of friendly local people. They helped me understand the menu and the meal was GREAT! There is nothing to dislike about this place.

I have finished few minutes ago....it was delicious!!!perfect german dinner without spending too much money!!! If I will come back to Alzenau I will come to eat here for sure!!!!

The food here is OK, but the service is fast and friendly and the location is super if you are visiting Alzenau. In the summer it is very popular to enjoy your meal on the terrace overlooking the town square.

beautiful German restaurant in the city center of alzenau, one of the few in this small Bavarian city. they can eat everything they want fresh and tasty of carving, to salad with fair trips and a very good service.

The restaurant face on the main city square close to a big parking place and under2 the City castle. The forniture a on wood but with modern design, clean place, the team explain the menù and is available to suggest the right dish. On summer...is also a good choice to sit outside to have a beer or for eating.

not the best, but certainly not the worst. better than average Jagger carving with a plentiful amount of cut mushrooms above. flammkuchen was not so good, but the selection of beer frankonian wine was very good. the bockssack wall was impressively good. presented seating outdoors on their contemporary terrace. there are not many restaurants in alzenau so old post was nice to find unless they are looking for a donator.

on the search for a place to the breakfast we came in this small village alzenau, where they obviously last night from the village party. the only place opened to breakfast was the old post. from the choice of the different type of breakfast went. for the big, really big and fantastic. Not to know what else they offer during the day, maybe they should extend their breakfast until 1400 and also offer this tower of wonderful to brunch lovers. we were very surprised and it tasted good. Let go!

it was always my axiom that in Germany good, cheap foods can be enjoyed in a random hospit in a random city. the city of alzenau, where we spent one night on the way to Austria, came wonderfully through. during the walk through the charming Alzenau-Zentrum... we decided to sit in the outside area of the gasthof old post to dinner. (It was wonderful weather). my assessment after the meal: 5 points from 5, an evaluation with which I am cautious in my reviews. the local beer: cold and refreshing. the salad: fresh and tasty. the main course, ratsherrenschnitzel well prepared and a good example for the good bourgeois cake (good house kitchen). the service was everything you can desire, courteous,...
