"We had a gift voucher for afternoon tea and decided to try the Christmas-themed afternoon tea at this restaurant, even though we had visited just 10 days ago. The staff were friendly and efficient, seating us at a lovely table near the fireplace despite us arriving half an hour early. The room was cozy with a view of the lawn. The menu was explained and our order was taken quickly and served promptly. The sandwiches were delicious, with fresh bread and tasty fillings, along with a warm sausage roll. Our drinks were consistently refilled throughout our visit. The desserts were delightful, especially the Eggnog Cherry Egg Custard Tart Bauble and the Chocolate and Peppermint Santa's Hat. The scones were huge and came with plenty of clotted cream and jam. We had to take three of them home as we were too full to finish them all. This was one of the best afternoon teas we've had and we look forward to returning in the summer to try the regular menu."

Very nice afternoon tea. Quite large, but they do provide takeaway boxes for those who cannot finish it all!

We had a delicious afternoon tea, overlooking the delightful gardens of the Hotel. Scones in particular was yummy!

A group of friends and I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon high-tea in a beautiful outdoor setting. The food was plentiful, delicious, freshly made with lovely staff delivering a first class service. We look forward to returning

Had a gorgeous afternoon tea at The Links. The staff were lovely and very efficient and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Great selection of sandwiches, cakes and desserts and plenty of tea or coffee. Would love to go back Voir le carte

Beautiful crockery. Sandwiches I suspect were filled with shop bought fillings. Cakes Ok. Scones were nice, cream and jam good. Not offered any refill of drink. Thou the room that hosts the cream teas' is beautiful there was a fly problem.

We went to celebrate two birthdays, one 90 and one 80, and had a wonderful afternoon experience at Alexander House. We have been coming here for the past 25 years and decided to visit again. The sandwiches were excellent and we enjoyed the sausage rolls. However, the scones, which we usually rate highly for afternoon tea, were very hard. We mentioned this to the waitress and chose not to eat them. The cakes were okay.

I brought my Mum and Nan here for afternoon tea in the summer. I had booked a table outside but the weather wasn't great so they moved us inside with no issue. The staff were attentive and polite, including the gentleman that greeted us at the entrance. They didn't seem to know that we had booked champagne afternoon tea but this was soon sorted and they apologised for the mix up. The staff filled up our teapots twice during our afternoon tea without being asked and where happy to meet all of our requests. The afternoon tea here is good value for money in my opinion. There was so much that we took a couple of the cakes away with us in little boxes that they provide for you. Voir le carte

It is very rare for me to do a review with less than 4 stars. We had lunch at the Reflections restaurant, and we were quite disappointed. The starter was fine, we ordered a cote de boeuf to share at £80 we thought it would be something special, it was very disappointing, very tough, we were given cold side plates to eat our food from! We had ask for hot dinner plates! We couldn’t believe it! We had one recently in an Angela Hartnett restaurant and it was very good. The would have been fine in a Pizza express, but not in a five star hotel. The cutlery was very basic. The menus were falling apart and with stains on them. The venue decor was bland and uninspiring. Not 5 stars in many ways. And...

I was extremely disappointed with my recent dining experience at this restaurant. It appears to be under new management, and not for the better. I had made a reservation for my friend's birthday, but they messed up the booking. The menu was also incorrect, and we were only given a few finger sandwiches, some cakes, scones, and a cup of tea for a total cost of £125. The sandwiches were poorly made with minimal fillings like ham, cheese, egg, hummus, and avocado. My friend was so let down by the experience as it was our third visit, but now it will be our last. We will not be returning in the future and would have preferred to spend our money at McDonald's instead. Overall, the meal was a comp...

"We go to Gravetye 3 or 4 times a year if we can and have been going for many many years over the tenures of several owners. It 's always a complete joy, and the current owner has done a fabulous job of getting the right people in, both inside and out. Tom Coward, the Head Gardener (ex. Dixter) has a vision and a long term plan that make continual visits over an extended period a joy every time we visit we are surprised by the continual changes we learn so much and the garden staff are super helpful and willing to discuss what they 're up to and why. The amazing oval massive kitchen garden that supplies the hotel is a source of wonderment and not to be missed. A visual and culinary feast. We 've never stayed there as we live reasonably close, but have eaten in both the old and new dining rooms many times. The new dining room sits harmoniously between the wings of the manor and although a very modern glass and steel construction, the inclusion of a fabulous antique (and uneven) parquet floor (ex. some french chateau) softens the feel and acoustics, making the room almost intimate. The floor to ceiling windows bring you right into the garden, even in the foulest of weather it 's a triumph of design. Then there 's the food. Apart from the presentation, which is exquisite, the flavours and textures always bring a broad grin, however grumpy I am! This is absolutely first rate British cuisine; the kitchen under Head Chef George Blogg is to be commended, as are the garden staff producing the freshest of produce. I occasionally try to photograph the plates, but invariably find I 've forgotten that rather crass move and have just launched in! Must also mention the front of house staff. Perfectly presented and mannered, they know exactly the boundary between staff and guest and make you feel completely comfortable and relaxed there is nothing stuffy or obsequious about Gravetye everything is pitched just spot on and nothing is too much trouble. We were there today for a birthday treat, but will be back again soon for a post family wedding get together. Cannot recommend too highly just an excellent few hours, whatever the weather. Walkability: Lots of paths. The lower areas are easy for those with limited mobility, however it might be tricky to get up to the kitchen garden if you 're not great on your feet. Food drinks: See my review."
