"The good stuff: 1) Freshly cooked food, pastries and a choice selection of booze sourced from near and far is to be had 2) It's a cosy place to socialise and catch up with your muckas 3) Great coffee even if it only fills half a cup 4) Staff are generally very helpfully, chatty and attentive despite what other reviewers have said. Stuff to improve: 1) It's a tad pricey for what you get for example it's £6.50 for 2 eggs on a slice of toast with a dollop of pesto for good measure. I like the idea that I'm supporting a small, local business but I still want to see fair value for money. 2) I asked for some pepper to put on my food only to be told that the food was already seasoned and that I wouldn't need any. Surely seasoning food is down to individual taste? Get your shakers out 161! 3) It's carrying a bit of a tired hipster feel. Munching your overpriced eggs on toast off of a cut in half door while lighting is suspended from bits of old string is a bit passe these days. I like rustic charm but 161 just looks old. It could be much, much more with a little investment. Overall, it's worth a visit with friends but I certainly wouldn't eat here."

I had a wonderful second visit to this lively and welcoming bar with fantastic wine and food. I feel fortunate to have this gem nearby.

I love this place, super cosy with great decor, amazing wine selection and service! Always a good selection of snack/food choices to accompany the wine- One of my favourite places South East!

Had such a lovely experience (my first) at 161 Food+Drink today. A wine tasting event, 8 wines, delicious 'canapes ' that have probably fulfilled me for the day, and a friendly, personable and relaxed atmosphere. So happy to have found this place and I 'll definitely be back!

Ooh look! Sydenham has a world class wine cellar. On my doorstep! A gorgeous local independent French-style cellar and bistro, no more than 20 covers, charcuterie and cheeses and a wine list to die for. Only open Thursday to Sunday, which is lucky or my lifestyle might cost me dear... what a joy! Voir le carte

We moved to Sydenham 3 years ago and I can honestly say 161 and team have whole heartedly made the area a pleasure to live in. We absolutely love it! They have done a fantastic job at delivering amazing wine, food (beer) and service. We’d be lost without you. Please don’t ever change! An absolute gem in south East London

We moved to the area this year and this is our favourite local place. The owners are so friendly, welcoming and always happy to offer advice on different wines and what you might like. We've been to a few wine tastings here which have been brilliant, they are always relaxed and fun. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is warm and cosy.

I decided to get takeout from 161 on a Saturday night. It cost £27 for one person, which may seem a bit expensive, but I received a delicious main dish (spiced walnut stuffed roasted aubergine with kale, bulgur wheat, pomegranate and pickle) and a dessert of spiced cake and cream that was large enough to last me 3 nights! In addition, I was able to select a lovely bottle of wine. Overall, it was a special treat from a charming restaurant and wine bar that I highly recommend! Voir le carte

Good selection of wines BUT... Can't read the board as fans and other stuff in the way and badly written. No wine list only bottles on the shelves to look at but if people are sitting under these shelves it's a bit awkward. Print a list boys stop trying to be so hipster you alienate customers and propel don't know what you're selling remember you're here to sell wines don't make it complicated. Wines are served at 125ml and not cheap. However the wines we chose were excellent. Get a list!

We recently visited this restaurant for the first time and immediately fell in love with the cozy atmosphere. We were warmly welcomed, but noticed that the service was a bit slow when there were only 6 people in the restaurant. The staff seemed easily distracted and disorganized. The drink options for non-wine drinkers were limited, as I had to go next door to buy my own lemonade for my vodka. The wine selection pleased our wine-loving friends. The food was mostly plant-based and tasty, although we found the sharing platter to be overpriced at £12. The beef koftas were a standout dish, while the sausage rolls had a unique samosa-like filling and were quite spicy and pricey at £4 each. Overal...

"Me and my flatmates went to Naifs to celebrate one of our own's MA degree with a nice meal, and we are so glad that we did. Anne and the team were incredibly personable and friendly, which really stood out to us. As somebody who has worked many years in hospitality, one can tell that there is clearly a very tight-knit team at work here who does what they do out of and with love. We really enjoyed the concluding chat with the kitchen team about the amazingly delicious olive oil they served us with the bread it comes straight from the chef's uncle's olive plantation! The atmosphere was really lovely as well, and a lot of thought clearly went into it: there were lots of candles, soft light, beautiful serving plates. We found the decor very tasteful in general: the restaurant has a cozy, but elevated bistro feel to it which makes it the perfect place for a broad variety of occasions. We had the set menu, which at 27 GBP came at very good value. The menu really demonstrated just how colorful vegan and vegetarian spreads can be: the colors on the table alone were such a delight to behold! Needless to say it also all tasted amazing. We particularly liked the mushrooms in lemony broth, the dhal and the aubergine stew. Every dish had a creative spin on it that made it into something we had never tasted in that way before. The wine that was recommended to us was very nice as well. We finished our meal with a selection of British cheeses, which was very well put together. Naifs focuses on seasonal and regional ingedrients, which is another factor that really convinced us, and which is something that more restaurants should focus on. Whether you're a veggie or not: if you want to dine at an all around truly special place, you need to try Naifs. Keep up the awesome work, guys we will be back very, very soon."

"my friend and I went to capitulate for dinner to celebrate his birthday, as was capitula, we thought the only decent restaurant in blackheath. all the others seem to be pushing down quickly. we have been in the past often in the capitulas, and the food and services were good we had no appetizers and ordered only one main meal (black foam and black bell), because we were not huge hungry because we were eating a lot of birthday cakes earlier! we had a glass of wine and were offered a piece of bread. 35 minutes later we waited for our food. in this time no one came to ask if we were in order or offer us more drinks. I asked the manager if our food was ready. he said it would be 5 minutes without a statement of delay then disappeared 10 minutes later there was no sign of food or manager. That is why we decided to go because we lost interest in eating. we have to go and the manager came by. he told us the delay was due to a big party in the ground floor. this was not the case, there was a group of 8 people who had finished their meal for a long time. we were there earlier when it was much more business and the service was not so bad. while we waited, we saw a customer who had finished their meal, slipped £20 into the manager hand when he left. Perhaps the workers need bribe to provide good services? it is such a scandal, but another blackheath restaurant has become complicit and believes that it with the treatment of its customers without respect. I will vote for one with my feet and will not eat again in this restaurant. I will also leave everyone I don't know to go there"
