"Having spent some considerable time searching for a suitable restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary whilst on holiday in Normandy, it was with great relief that we discovered a real gem in La Ferme des Mares. Whilst it is situated in a quiet countryside location which will test your navigation skills, the journey of discovery was all part of the adventure of trying out a new establishment and what a location it is. Situated behind high gated walls, the arrival at night into the cleverly flood lit courtyard is quite spectacular and sets the tone for the rest of the buildings within and the meal to come. The service was prompt and very welcoming as we were shown to our table. Being from England we had booked early for 7.30pm, but like many French restaurants the locals do not eat until much later, so to start with things were quiet but the atmosphere soon picked up as other families arrived for their meals. The food was all we had hoped for and of a style and excellence that is not usually found in smaller establishments such as La Ferme des Mares. If you enjoy and appreciate good high end food then this place is a must for those with a discerning palate. Thanks to Mike and his staff who we certainly hope to see again when next in this area."
