"This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in France! It is tiny so reservations are a must, but it is more than worth it. Le Petit Vatel serves traditional, classic French home-cooking. Most dishes are simple and perfectly executed, nothing is overwrought or unnecessarily fussy. The menu is written on a chalkboard in French (bring your dictionaries and be prepared to google dishes!) and changes each visit. The waiters are kind and patient. I have been many times and highly recommend the Poireaux (leeks with a lemony creamy vinaigrette sauce), lentils, bone marrow, and oeufs mimosa as starters. For a main course, the veal farci (veal stuffed with spinach and an amazing sauce with vegetables and mashed potatoes on the side) is my personal favorite, but the pork shoulder and the lamb are also amazing. With desserts you can't go wrong! Le Petit Vatel is truly a standout in a city full of great restaurants."
