"When we arrived, everything seemed fine initially, but then the food was served. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves—burnt dishes, undercooked items, and missing components made up a long list of complaints. Eventually, I was asked to have a private meeting with the manager, Nicki, to discuss our experience. She acknowledged the issues and agreed that we wouldn’t have to pay for the food, promising that her husband would call me shortly. When he did call, he accused me of "ranting at his wife and making her cry," which anyone who knows me would find hard to believe. He insisted he was coming to the restaurant and would take 45 minutes to get there for a one-on-one meeting. While I wouldn’t mind this, the other 11 guests were equally upset and wanted to meet him as well. When he arrived, he confronted me in front of everyone, repeating that I had made his wife cry. However, he refused to let her come and talk to me about it. He mentioned issues with previous chefs being bullied and said they had a new chef from Indeed, although I'm not sure why that was relevant. He claimed that missing items from our plates were due to us not including them on the spreadsheet we provided. So even though the festive menu listed "burger with fries, coleslaw, and pigs in blankets," we only received the burger and fries because we only typed "burger." He did offer us a free meal, which we declined after the treatment we received, and Richard also offered to refund our drinks bill, which we also turned down because, despite the terrible food, we had enjoyed our wine. I’ve always been a supporter of The Bell and considered it a great pub for drinks, but after this experience and the way we were treated, including the baseless accusations, I regret to say that we won’t be returning—especially since there are other places in Clare that provide better service without such issues."

"The White Horse at Withersfield is a charming, historic country pub located in the picturesque Suffolk village of Withersfield. The pub offers excellent food and accommodation, as well as a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food at The White Horse is simply delicious. The menu features classic British dishes, as well as some more unusual options. I highly recommend the pie of the day, which is always made with fresh, local ingredients. The desserts are also worth trying, especially the sticky toffee pudding. The accommodation at The White Horse is comfortable and well-appointed. "My second visit here: The positives are that it is a good location in town, staff very friendly and welcoming, seating comfortable. There is also an outside area which in the warmer weather is lovely and they do really great milkshakes here. The negatives are that the food is hit and miss and can sometimes be small in portion size, a bit sloppy. It’s your basic “sandwich and crisps” style place for a high price. Dogs are allowed inside which would usually be ok, but the fact they have carpet on the restaurant floor screams poor hygiene. I visited today and there were two dogs, one of which was scratching every five mins and I just kept thinking how many fleas and dried dog drool is in this carpet. The dog then jumped up at my table and started trying to eat my food. I also found it very off putting that free tap water is in a rather limescaly jug which is kept on the same table as the dog biscuits and the dog bowl. Again not very hygiene. The windows could do with a good clean and the vents are quite blocked. I also wasn’t impressed that there were also screaming children running across the sofas which didn’t seem to bother staff and again considering others will have to eat there afterwards was quite off putting. There was another table with another child repeatedly banging something on the table for about ten mins which was clearly causing a nuisance to others and again staff were not concerned. This is more a place families with young kids and Dogs who just want a quick bite, and not a place to come if you want a hearty lunch in a peaceful setting. Would I come here again? If grabbing a quick milkshake on the way past maybe but otherwise probably not."

"This is a spacious, light and airy, air-conditioned restaurant, with a welcoming interior. The restaurant and its tables were laid out nicely and we were greeted on arrival. The establishment was well staffed, and the waiters were attentive but not intrusive. The menu offers a nice and interesting choice of food, and we were spoilt for choice. The meals we chose were served hot, well presented and delicious. However, three service issues marred our visit. One of the side dishes we ordered was not served with everything else when our meal was delivered, and this was clearly unnoticed until we had to ask for it. Yes, the side dish then appeared, but it was served several minutes after we had started to eat our meal and did not accompany our initial tastings. We both ordered a dessert, the choice being made from the typical list of pre-prepared and frozen ice cream dishes typically offered by Indian restaurants. We each chose differently. One dessert was served quite a long way ahead of the other and had started to thaw pending the delivery of the second. How hard can it be to serve two ice cream frozen dishes together?Lastly, when our itemised bill was presented to us, it was completely accurate save for a final entry listing a bottle of Rioja wine costing the best part of We had not ordered a bottle of wine, no wine had been served and we had not consumed anything more than beer, prosecco, and water. When this discrepancy was queried, the offending item was removed, and the bill was corrected.Apologies, such as they were, were mumbled and did not come across as at all sincere. The restaurant was well staffed, not especially busy and the staff did not appear to be under any pressure. How can such simple service mistakes occur?Wisely, we were not solicited to offer a service gratuity when we settled the bill. The restaurant was good and the food excellent. The service was wanting. On balance the former slightly outweighs the latter and we are prepared, in due course, to give the restaurant a second chance rather than boycott it completely."

"Yeah… no… we will not be returning. The cost for 2 adults was £37.80and it definitely was not worth it. When we first arrived, we should’ve paid attention to the red flag that there were only like 6 people eating. When we went to get food, there was barely any food in the warming containers… yes, they have probably about 30 containers, but almost all of them were empty except a few vegetables and sauce. Mind you, this is 7:30pm… so we know we haven’t just missed a rush of people or they have been busy. We stayed for an hour and just about no new food came out. Containers remained bare and all they did was replace noodle. The ribs were too tough to chew, the mussels were so fishy (I feel unwell from the thought), the peppered chicken made my jaw hurt from how tough it was, and this is like getting 1 piece of each item because there was so little food. Then, we got to dessert. I do not know If I have ever seen a more depressing dessert display; the “cakes” are divided into small containers and resemble a little sliver. They looked dry beyond belief. So, my partner and I just decided to get ice cream from the machine. And that ice cream was the best part of our meal! Yeah, we will not be returning. I feel like I was robbed of almost £40 because I would’ve gotten more food at McDonald’s for what I paid- and it would have been better quality. Very VERY disappointed."

"Booked online for 6 of us for a birthday meal for my son. Was met by a lady who was chewing gum (not acceptable in a restaurant front of house position) and was not particularly happy (waitress1) She said that there was a wait on food even though we had booked due to people wanting takeaways. We ordered drinks with another lady (waitress 2) who was very pleasant and she bought them to the table. She was followed by waitress 1 with the same drinks who made a point of telling us that waitress 2 had not ticked off that she had served the drinks, (in my opinion this belittling situation was very unnecessary). Even my 17 year old son said it was unfair on waitress 2. We ordered our food with waitress 2. Our food was delivered by waitress 1 and one of the dishes was incorrect. There was no apology and she said she would rectify the error, I waited for a long time for my meal, in fact, some of our group had just about finished their meal before it arrived. The meal was still missing the dressing that I had originally asked for. I was then told that they did not have the dressing that I was originally offered. Waitress 1 came over and asked if all was ok. I explained that we weren’t happy. Waitress 1 offered to take my meal off the bill. We went to the reception area to pay with waitress 3 who was lovely. She presented me with the bill which had my meal removed. Waitress 1 then came over and belittled waitress 3 saying she’d got the wrong bill for us. In fact, she had got the right copy. Waitress 3 appeared to be embarrassed by Waitress 1 behaviour. I paid and we left to have our dessert in a different place. Very disappointing for my sons birthday and we will not be going back. The restaurant was clearly understaffed and my overall opinion was poor customer service which was predominantly 1 member of staff"
