"I am so surprised by some of the negative reviews on TA, the complete opposite of my experience meeting a friend for lunch today. I emailed Turners Wines asking as to vegan options and if their bread contained soya or not (I'm allergic) I had a great response suggesting a vegan platter, with homemade buckwheat pancakes, in lieu of bread.I arrived and was shown to our table by Steve, who I think is one of the owners, who said chef Matthew had planned a vegan feast and gave me a handwritten menu which included saffron and sunblush tomato arancini, mushroom and spinach stuffed buckwheat pancakes, houmous, artichokes, olives, beetroot slaw and salad. When my vegan feast arrived, I was blown away by Matthew's care and attention, to ensure I had a tasty filling lunch and loved the presentation. The arancini were delicious with a crunchy texture, as they were coated in ground almonds (I will be stealing that clever idea). The buckwheat pancakes were like Indian dosas, aerated with tiny bubbles, making them so light. The pudding was equally delicious, perfectly roasted plums, pineapple and pear, with rose syrup and toasted almonds. The flavour of rose can be dominating and I am not keen on sickly sweet syrups, but the balance of both was spot on, the syrup really complimented the fruit.I find that when I enquire about vegan options, its the family run independents, who really rise to the challenge and in this case, Turners really came up trumps. I was thoroughly spoiled and I intend to return with my husband for lunch sometime."

"Food for the price you just cannot fault it's amazing, there was a lovely young man that's the nicest thing I can say when it comes to staff tbh, we called and booked at table for 7.30 we arrived at 7.31, I have never felt so unwanted or been spoken to in such a rude manner in my 32 years if it wasn't for my partner suffering with severe anxiety I would have got up and left she completely wrecked our experience and God knows how long it will take for my partner to pluck up the courage to go out in this pandemic again after that being one of her first experiences, just to give a couple of pointers we walked in smiled and politely tried to say we had a table booked the girl interrupted in a rude manner last orders were 7.30 wait here (I wanted to go then! She comes back stuck up attitude yes the kitchen said they will serve you but you have 60 seconds to order and that she gave us she come back demanding our orders exactly a minute later her whole persona was dreadful tbh huffing puffing making it known SHE/THEY (it's your job pal was doing us a favour, I just wanted to leave after that ,a bit later she tried to be nice my partner because she is a nervous wreck played along I struggled to look at the girl TBH, lesson for the crown don't book 7.30 tables if you stop serving food at 7.30 common sense! If you do advise guest (because we are guests to arrive 15 mins early as the kitchen shuts at 7.30 or lf someone does arrive at 7.30 as advised by Covid don't arrive until your exact time due to social distancing then maybe try to be polite imagine the experience if the girl let me finish my sentence said In a nice manner ladies I'll just have to check I know the kitchen shuts at 7.30 sorry I know this is when you booked, then came back to us and said yeh the kitchen said that's cool would you mind if I asked you to choose what you needed asap then came back with a smile on here face. This pandemic is new to us all and rules are ever changing, there is no need for power trips or arragonce, finally a young chap took over our table towards the end and he was just lovely maybe he should be coaching your staff on basic customer service, basically the food and value is that good if I had his service from the start we would have been regulars we live round the corner I will never enter again tbh disgusted."
