"We visited here on July 9th and had a morning to forget after a metal fence (which hadn’t been installed properly) fell on our daughter and trapped her. The large fence had been put around the park to stop children using it. However the fence was only kept standing by two bits of rope tied to trees, which we were unaware of. There were also toys just a metre or so in front of the fence encouraging children to play. The fences were literally balancing on the grass (from a distance they looked like they were dug into the ground) with nothing securing them. Fortunately our daughter was okay. However, the manager didn’t once come out to see if we were okay or if we needed anything. Several people complained before us and when we finally went in, we got a very brief sorry and told that the contractor who installed the fences had been called. I even heard her shout to one of the staff to relay the information on for her if anyone else asked about the fences. I don’t blame or fault any of her staff, and I wouldn’t even have written this post if the manager had come out and checked to see if we were okay. That is all it took. She did, in the end, offer us some free food, but only after several discussions. This isn’t a complaint about the food which is very good, but the way this potentially very awful situation was handled is one they need to learn from so this doesn’t happen to anyone again."

"Stopped in here with family for lunch. We'd been into a few other places in the area, but they were all very busy so we looked for somewhere quieter. Upon walking in I noticed a distinct smell of wet dog and the bartender, who was dressed quite smartly in all black, was barely visible in the poorly lit bar. We were asked if we'd be eating and then were asked if we'd like to sit indoors or outdoors, as it was sunny we opted for outdoors. The bartender saw us to a wet table in the garden with an upside down plant pot filled with cigarette butts. The garden was full of slimy patches on the grass which were very slippery and the children's play area looked like a death trap, the poorly strung faded bunting didn't make it look any better! When we ordered food at the bar no drinks were offered and when we asked for some the bartender acted like he was doing us a favour! There was no ice offered with the cold drinks and the wine was presented in a glass with a lipstick stain on. When I asks for th glass to be changed I was asked to point out the stain on the glass, as if I was lying. We moves inside to eat and sat towards the back of the pub, we were told this was their evening dining area and were offered a table by the bar, we declined due to the uncomfortable looks we revived from what I can only assume were regulars at the pub. The food was edible, but nothing special, the steak in the sandwich was very tough and the bread was dry. There was no check back during the meal and our plates were not cleared before we left. There was also no goodbye when we left. I work in pubs for a living and I'd just like to tell the landlord something...you're doing it wrong! That's why all the other pubs in the area were packed and yours was empty. On the plus side, your chalkboards were lovely, shame the rest of the pub wasn't as nice!"
