"La Fabrique is a pleasant little bistro-style restaurant situated behind the main square in Marciac. In winter or in bad weather the number of covers is fairly limited, probably about 30. However there are a number of tables outside, so in the summer the capacity will probably be double that at least. The interior is simply furnished and quite compact, which gives the place nice a buzzy feel. The menu is limited, but with a fair level of variety. There is an interesting choice of tapas for a starter and then, apart from a couple of huge salads, there is a choice of four dishes for the main course. Between us, our party sampled three. The thai style duck was really tasty. The fish main course was very well received and the entrecote steak was nicely cooked, if a little chewy. There was a fair range of sweets and the café gourmand was very good indeed. Our party ate in the evening. The three courses on a table d’hote basis came to about 25 euros which, given the overall quality, seemed very good value. There was a good selection of wine to choose from, much of it being sourced locally from St Mont and Madiran. Prices were reasonable and several came out at less than 20 euros a bottle. The service was efficient and the staff all very helpful and friendly. La Fabrique is a good alternative to the pricier restaurants in the main square. In the summer, even outside the Jazz Festival, Marciac is pretty busy so it is probably worth booking in advance. It is even better value at lunch time, but I would warmly recommend it as a place for well-prepared food, in a pleasant environment, at a very reasonable price."
