"It is such a shame, as this restaurant has grest great potentialotential. Set in a picturesque garden, with a warm and inviting glow of festoon lights and ambient table lamps., first impressions seemed promising. This was our second visit to Da Vittorio's over a period of five years. We remembered the food being very good, so thought we would return. However, we waited 50 minutes before even receiving the drinks menu and this was only after having to prompt the waiting staff on two occasions. It also took the waiter an hour to take our order. Fortunately we can speak Italian, so we were able to read the menu. However, I did see the waiter (donned with braces) translate the options to the other guests. And I would agree with fellow reviewers, that his manner was off hand to say the very least. We waited and waited for our starters to arrive, and also our main meals, where they had forgotten to bring the side of roast potatoes. We waited a further 10 minute for these. A small wait in comparison! We asked to see the pudding menu, and then after waiting a further 15 minutes, we asked if we could see it.... again. It arrived, but then nobody bothered to come over and take our order. So my husband went inside to pay the bill, we were so fed up of waiting at this point and it was 11pm. We had a further wait just to get someone to come out. In the end we went and sat in the car, while my husband waited patiently to pay. We are very relaxed and patient people and wanted to enjoy our evening. So we enjoyed the food, but despite frequenting Lake Garda annually, we would not return to this restaurant, despite the food being delicious. Bravo to the chef, as he is probably what is keeping this restaurant afloat. There is a funny, hostile environment here. Not at all welcoming. We are sevond generation Italians, so we know what to expect from Italian hospitality. And this was not it. I will just add though, that there was a young waiter that worked there and he was very pleasant. The older water could learn a thing or two from him. We still has a nice evening. We are not even annoyed, but this is because we made the best out of a restaurant with little or no atmosphere whatsoever. I hate leaving bad reviews. I know the industry is a difficult one to work in at times. The hours are long too. Nevertheless, if you want to feel a warm welcome, I would perhaps suggest dining somewhere else."
