"First impression of the restaurant was very good. Unfortunately a few simple things caused me to write this review. All three of us ordered a roast dinner which was served to us whilst we were still looking at the wine list, approximately 5 minutes. That was when a few things were reported to the waitress. 1. No crackling withe roast pork something that is shown as a main ingredient on the menu. 2. Gravy already poured all over the food, this should always be served separately. 3 . The cauliflower cheese was literally a bowl of mush, we reported this to the waitress who just said she would let someone know. The table next to us was served next with a large bowl of beautifully prepared cauliflower florets with cheese sauce. We never had any feedback re our concerns so we just carried on with what we had been served. Desert ordered Trio of Ice cream with home made Shortbread what we we received was three scoops of ice cream in a bowl and no shortbread! Lemon cheesecake was also ordered which we were told was no longer available but then was told they had just got one piece left. Great I thought, what arrived was a very slim slice of cheesecake with 2 minute blobs of cream. On paying the bill I did relay my concerns to a gentleman who I presume was the manager, his response was a quick sorry and then disappeared to speak to the waitress On his return he took my payment and just said sorry once again. Unfortunately what should have been a nice Sunday Lunch turned into a huge disappointment"

"I stopped by this restaurant to grab a quick takeout lunch with my daughter. Unfortunately, the 4 staff members working were not very friendly. After being ignored for a few minutes, I had to ask if they offered takeout. The staff member seemed to perk up a bit and confirmed that they did. I mentioned that I only had 15 minutes left on my parking and was assured that it would be enough time. We ordered a kids tuna sweet corn sandwich and a bacon, Brie, and cranberry sandwich. The staff seemed unsure of the pricing and had to consult with another employee who took a while to calculate the cost. Eventually, we were told that the kids sandwich would be slightly cheaper than an adult sandwich. However, when our order arrived, the kids sandwich consisted of one slice of bread cut into two small sandwiches, making it seem like it would've been worth paying a bit more for a larger portion. Additionally, I was charged extra for the cranberry sauce as it was considered an additional ingredient for the bacon and Brie sandwich. To my disappointment, the cranberry sauce was missing from the sandwich when I opened it to eat. The rest of the food was mediocre, with bland and tasteless Brie cheese. Overall, the experience took longer than expected, causing me to rush back to my car to avoid a parking ticket. We do not plan on returning to this restaurant in the future."

"We arrived on 30.08.31, booked dinner for 6.15pm (first sitting full at 6.00pm) after traveling 250 miles we were looking forward to a nice dinner. We looked at the soup and thought is that the first course, had some, not very exiting. The main course offered just pork, (it was okay, almost hot) hard stuffing balls, cold carrots, cold green beans and blackened potatoes swimming oil cold oil. Picked through the potatoes. Veggie options, now quite sure what that was, bits of pasta in a red sauce. Now for pudding, well it was tinned fruit salad or sandwich sponge, take you pick out of two sponges. Nearly forgot you could add a very thin cream. No cheese and biscuits, no orange juice. Also you are only allowed to drink water at the table. Cancelled Friday night, but added friends for dinner at 7.00pm on Saturday. Fingers crossed everything would be okay. Well, soup did not even smell inviting, meat, pork and beef, (very good and hot) no stuffing balls or Yorkshire puddings. Same blackened potatoes, cold carrots and the cauliflower so cold is was inedible. Pudding, well, we were lucky as there was enough cheese cake and tinned fruit left for us. All the time we were there no more pudding brought out. Complained to the lady at the desk, said the food was awful and was told it was the chef. That was it! Came home on Sunday. Breakfast for all three mornings was also very poor, just no variety, and barely warm, think they forgot to actually cook the scrambled egg on the Saturday morning, not a mushroom in site, and as for coffee, help your self to a tear off packet, just like the bedroom. So sorry to write this as we have stayed at the Hotel and eaten here for so many years, that I feel it should be noted that it has gone so down hill. Also so very embarrassing to bring friends for dinner in a beautiful setting to be offed such awful food. Suffice to say due to the attitude of the staff, both in this restaurant and the Hotel, I cannot recommend that you should stay here,or eat here.. If you have not seen the restaurant area, it is beautifully set out, it is airy, the lighting is good, the chairs are comfortable. What a shame to food does not compliment it. I am afraid that I will not stay here again until both the Hotel and Restaurant get their act together and produce the experience we have been used to when staying in the wonderful building. Thank you"
